Washed the car today, found a whole new bunch of chips on the bonnet. It's only done 4500 miles in 11 months. You'd think from the bonnet I was using it as the camera car in the WRC! :censored:

Does anyone know someone in the Bedford area who can sort these out as I don't trust myself to do a good job on them...

crikey they look a bit harsh, I'm upto 4k miles in mine all motorway and my bonnets nowhere near as severely dented. might be worth getting a detailer to check the pain with a paint gauge make sure the paint is unto scratch before you fork out any cash

That is really poor, might put me off getting the red. Has anyone had ventureshield or any other paint protection put on? Had it on an Exige and was good at stopping stone chips.

Meppershall Beds.
I'd pop it along to Perfection Automotive in Kempston - they do some good SMART repair work, and the owner Oliver is very straight....he'll do a good job and charges are fair.

Today my FR was hit by another bad driver trying to park. It's the second time its been clipped since I bought it. Saw the driver doing it. Slight mark on the rear diffuser. Of course when I confronted him, he denied it altogether. So frustrating. It's so hard to keep your cool in a situation like that. It's only got 1300 odd miles on it. Is my car magnetic or something?

That's harsh mate. Mines emocion red too. That worries me. The protective film seems the way forward for me.....

I had SunTek film put on my bonnet wing mirrors and bumper as my last two cars suffered from badly from stone chips from motorway driving. This film is self healing so any scratches in the surface will gradually disappear. Done over 4k miles no chips! Film still as shiny as the day it was put on. Also comes with 5 year Guarantee.

Hi Andrew, have you used them before?

I took my mk2 to Perfect Paint in MK for an insurance repair last year when a lorry drove in to the side of me, they managed to get a good job of spraying a replacement door and getting it to blend in with the 7 year old paint that was there

Doesn't the film 'show' on the car making the bonnet a different colour etc?

My car is alor blue you can't see the film unless you look very closely. The film doesn't change the colour of the car nor does it have a different shine from the rest of the car. So in short the answer is no.

Hi JK
I've used them for mechanical work on my daughter's Golf Mk5, and while I waited I had a look at some of the SMART jobs they've been doing. his diagnostics/mechanical jobs have been fine, and he's been very fair about the charges too.

Hi Ewan,

Did you take it somewhere to have it done, or do they come out to you?[/QUOTE]

Here's a picture of the front of my car. The wing has no film on it.
