Front Mount Intercooler

So far my intercooler has cost me £309.00, it has larger end tanks than the standard S3, installed by myself.

Naively looking at the kit i assumed it came with everything needed A list of everything needed would be awesome

That's if the billet adaptor in that kit is any better than the cheap China kit.

You'll have to buy screws with that kit aswell to mount it back to the rad! But otherwise nice find

Im not convinced it's any different from the china kit, aside from the huge markup.

Did you end up just buying the Darkside hose kit for this cooler? Its on their site for £100 + VAT.

Tempted to order the China special and ensure i source a decent billet adaptor before attempting the install. Also need the bolts too, think i read somewhere they are M6?

I think it is the same mate, and they've stuck a fancy panel on the front with "Darkside" written on it, it's identical. And yeah I bought the hoses from Darkside to ensure that they fit the TFSI, as the china ones were too large and wouldn't fit into the connector properly. Maybe my fault but I thought the mk5 golf had the same parts/fittings as it's the same engine.

I meant i'm not sure the link i posted above is any different from the china kit in terms of the pipework supplied. I know the Darkside cooler is the same, you just pay for the fancy engraving so they can verify which part's they supply as they won't map cars with cheap knock offs (HA!) of their kit.

Well i think i'll go ahead and order the china kit, and will remove my current pipework to try out the pipes/connectors etc.

Keep us posted on the Darkside pipes, lots of pics would be good

Also note, DO NOT take this job on by yourself! It requires two or more people, as you will need somebody to hold the intercooler/rad/aircon in place whilst you remove the old one etc, and installing the new one!

My mechanic cousin will be helping me fit mine (in his garage) when we will also be attacking a waterpump and oil pickup replacement.. Hoping to get it all done same day....

I'm being stupid (or my phone is) but can someone (Josh?!) confirm EXACTLY what is required eg- china cooler & darkside hoses? Links as well please Don't think my phone is viewing all the posts correctly on this thread as when I'm reading through it..it doesn't make sense lol.

Yes, anyone would benefit from upgrading. Faster for longer etc unknown on actual bhp increases tho, 10-15 probable

Lol I was the same doing my work on my tdi.. Never could do a step by step guide, I get too angry or can't be arsed as it takes too much time to stop try clean my hands find my phone, etc etc...

Although... I love all of you who do!!
