Hi all not happy just had to pay local garage for 6 hours labour after he recons it took him 8 to remove and replace the turbo on my 1.9tdi pd 130 cordoba(ibiza with boot).

The annoying thing is brought first turbo pd170 hybrid and had it fitted it failed less than 1000 miles so was sent back and was all sorted out and new one was sent and this is what they just fitted.

It's got the darkside development solid boost pipes and front mount intercooler and paid out loads but now he saying my fmic is leaking it's proper pissing me off it's all brand new and intercooler and pipes I did and took my time with everything don't get how brand new intercooler is leaking u rev it sounds fine.

Anyone no best way I can check it got VCDS just sick of paying out and still not right.

He's told me to not drive it with as the intercooler is leaking and could cause it to blow?

I'm in nottingham and would any help as spend £390 just having turbo removed and refitted.

Would a slight boost leak cause the turbo to blow or would be ok. Need the car for work?

Thanks all sorry for ranting but u can see why I'm pissed off

You won't here a boost leak by just revving it, you need to put the engine under load,, try 3rd gear 2k revs and then put your foot down, ifs it's leaking you should here it, hard to describe the sound it makes,,

Other way you could check is to do a smoke test on it,, last one I had done cost £40, and that will find any leak, no matter how small,

What was the reason you replaced the turbo in the first place?

To me it just sounds like it spooling up with having the solid boost pipes it would would a little louder than a normal spool and also with it being a hybrid would have a louder woosh.

The last turbo failed then blades got the side wall and caught before anymore damage had new turbo which failed after 1000 miles that was replaced under warranty. Then had this one with fmic and solid boost pipes.

The garage charged me for 6 hours labour to refit turbo and said he should have also charged 2 for removing it. I supplied and for oil change and new oil filter also had a braided oil feed pipe fitted and map done by DNA tunning by John Robbins himself nice chap must say map was done with last turbo and replacment is same turbo.

How much louder does the turbo spool sound with solid pipes and hybid turbo is it normally?
