Hi All

Unfortunately this is another boost leak thread! I have been searching the forum on the issue and with such a wide range of knowledge on here it's easy to get lost. In short I have made my way through 3 boost pipes from splits and now the pipes seem to slip off at a slight angle allowing air to escape! In all honesty I'm a bit lost with what to do so I would really appreciate some advice please.

I have read a lot of talk on buying the hoses clamps and pipes and making my own set and also buying a kit from the likes of Forge, and SFS. I have linked below the particular Forge kit that I am looking at purchasing and was wondering if anybody has had these installed and whether they work any better than the standard pipes from Seat?! I have the Ibiza FR TDi.

I appreciate the help. Thanks.

Personally, I wouldn't purchase that kit at that price :wtf:

I used to have issues with boost pipes popping out until I bought a 50 pack of 8mmx30mm long zip-ties from B&Q for £1.99.

You need 4 per coupler joint. Wrap a zip-tie loosely around each pipe, then thread two more zip ties through and zip (these zip ties need to be opposite each other)

You can use more which is recommended and try and use 8mm or thicker zip ties as some snap easily.

Your end result should look like this:

Excellent solution, I have the exact same issue with my boost pipe that goes in to the egr. The proper metal clip has snapped in half and I currently have a jubilee clip angled around holding it all on. I may use this lasso type idea myself :D

Cheers Badger, helpful as always!

I had already used this little tip for the first pipe coming from the turbo on the underside when I had to replace the pipe after it split.

I tried cable tying all the pipes last night but I am still getting a sucking noise under pressure so I think I will have to have all the pipes off and have another proper check for splits of leaks! I don't suppose it could be coming from the intercooler could it?

Thanks.

What sort of condition are the o-ring seals on the pipes in? The rubber can perish and cause a leak, any oil around the joins? If oil can escape so can air.

Good shout, I haven't checked the 'o' ring seals on the pipes but that will be a task for this weekend and I think worth replacing anyway. There is a slight bit of oil around the joints yes, especially the outgoing connection from the intercooler. I think it probably best if I have the lot off this weekend and give it all a good clean and checking over and then take it from there if the problems still persist! Cheers.

Cheers for the replies over the weekend guys. All valid comments. I did however manage to get the pipework off and have a good inspection. Good news was that there are no splits in the pipes. Bad news was that the nibs have sheared off the pipe connectors and thus the allowance for the pipes to be able to slip out enough under load leaking air out!

The picture below isn't great but you get the idea of what I mean when I say "nibs have sheared off"

And this was the fix...:D PS. I tidied and cut the cables ties before someone pulls me up on that!
