i purchased one of these for the reversing light 1pc CREE 1156 BA15S P21W Xenon LED CANBUS REVERSE LIGHT BULB WHITE HIGH POWER1pc CREE 1156 BA15S P21W Xenon LED CANBUS REVERSE LIGHT BULB WHITE HIGH POWER
could anyone tell me if it is safe enough to fit with no error messages please

Smurf, sounds like the one I bought. Here's link to the one I bought Reverse Bulb

As long as the bulb has Canbus you should be good to go :)

List needed for the interior on an FR ST:

front map lights: 2x501
glovebox: 1X501
footwells: 2x501
rear courtesy lights: 2X39mm festoon
boot: 1x501

hs anyone swapped out the rear indicators for leds as well?

I bought mine recently from LEDPerf. If you are doing this I'd strongly suggest buying a set of plastic trim removal tools. Not a single mark on anything as a result...which if you're as hamfisted as me is a rare outcome:D

Any recommendations on kits? Seen a few on ebay and amazon ranging from £8 to £110!

Wouldn't bother with any kits.

I had a kit for my old MK2 and then just bought the rest that weren't included for my mk3.

You will need these:

front map lights: 2x501

glovebox: 1X501

footwells: 2x501

rear courtesy lights: 2X39mm festoon

boot: 1x501

Front foglights: H8 or H11

Rear foglight: 1156/PY21W

Rear indicators: 7505/381/BAU15S

Reverse light: 1156/PY21W

In my case for the 501s I used the 9 SMD ones from parts u like.
The festoons are 2 SMD.
Front fogs are H11 69 SMD.

Rear fog, reverse light and indicators are the same as the guys in this thread have used.

LED Bulb conversion list for FR with Tech Pack

Thought i'd do a proper breakdown as to what is needed for a full LED converison. this is based on my FR with the tech pack (so already LED sidelights, main/dipped beam, stop/tail, front indicators, repeaters and numberplate lights)

501s

i personally recommend these http://partsulike.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26_107&products_id=261 They are more than bright enough for all applications and there are some senseible colour choices available too. Personally went for white for everything except the footwells where i went with red.

  • Boot: 1
  • Footwells: 2
  • Front map lights: 2
  • Glovebox: 1
  • Sunvisors: 2

Total 501s required: 8

Festoons

I personally have these http://partsulike.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=35_36&products_id=109 if you wish to purchase them from elsewhere they are 36mm however if you are a couple of mm out you can always bend the contacts.

  • rear courtesy lights: 2

Total festoons required: 2

H8 or H11

Again personally i got these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261341137993?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 I ama yet to have chance to fit them (was hoping to today but the weather is awful)

The MK3 actually uses H8s but these are 35w max. you can fit H11's with no issue but you will need to either bend or cut the centre locating tab on the outside ring of the bulb in order to ensure the correct fitment. We dont want people shooting down aeroplanes now do we!

  • Front foglights: 2

Total H8/H11s required: 2

1156/PY21W

Personally i have used these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261169683340?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Other members have used the same with some locating them from China cheaper, though this can mean a longer wait.

  • Rear foglight: 1
  • Reverse light: 1

Total 1156/PY21Ws required: 2

7505/381/BAU15S

Personally i have used these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161268187549?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 again others have used the same or have located them from China.

  • Rear indicators: 2

Total 7505/381/BAU15Ss required: 2

The one I listed at the top dude. I used the same white 9SMD 501s for all the 501 applications. With the exception of a pair of red ones for the footwells.

Think the boot is plenty bright enough though see here: https://fbcdn-photos-h-a.akamaihd.n...5_10203548709142468_7667707506530094123_n.jpg

the 9smd 501 which i take it with 9 bulbs are these ok without overheating as they are 360

Had mine in for over a week now without issues. Had the 5SMD ones in my MK2 for 3 years without issues too. Of course they get warm but no more so than a normal bulb really, maybe 5-10 degrees in it.

Could anyone tell me how to remove the rear courtesy lights. Also the bulb list shown for the FR seems to be different than the 5 Door SE. Mine seem to be. Boot, footwell, glovebox, front map are 501. Vanity mirror 39mm festoon and rear courtesy appear to be the 31mm festoon, but can't tell until I remove the unit from the roof.
