Newbie in need of advice

I've just joined the forum today after buying my Cupra on Monday. I hope to become an active member of this forum

I have previously owned a MK1 Cupra r, Mk2 leon 2.0 TDI, TT mk2 K03 TSFI and now this Cupra K04 beast - so i am not totally new in the world of VAG or Seat.

The car is to be my toy and I plan to modify it, tastefully. I would like your advice on items you have tired, tested and would recommend

First plan is to make the car breath more effectively by replacing both the intake and exhaust.

I am currently looking at the VWR intake (had this on my TT and it was amazing) along with BCS power valve (again this a mod I've picked up from TTforum days). Does anybody have this set up?


Remap wise I am thinking APR as Revo has started to fall behind with their software development and from reading through the forum a few people have had issues. How have other Cupra owners found the APR map?

Before anybody starts to flame me by saying why did you buy the car if you don't like the way it looks, I like the Leon exterior but I am not totally in love with it. I would like to tastefully change the styling, the BTCC kit is ok but i think its had its day. I am 35 not 19 so want a kit (or part of) that is subtle and which enhances the Leon's lines rather than destroying them - ie no fiber glass Gary boy whale tails ( I have friends to keep). Sorry if whale tails are your bag!

Handling and braking wise, I think the stock set up is fine. I may lower it or upgrade the anti roll bars etc but to be honest the Cupra (stock) handles fair better than my old TT so this mod is low down on my list.

Good choice. Seems like you've done your research.
Intakes that are popular are the Revo ceramic intake, ITG and Evoms all open cone filter so will be louder than the VWR intake. Revo being the loudest.

BCS seem to be the exhaust of choice. I'm just waiting on fitting date on my BCS downpipe and sports cat then in the future I plan on getting the powervalve cat back.

Exterior, Triple R splitter, BTCC side skirts and Cupra R diffuser if you want the R twin exit exhaust.

I have APR software, stage 1 at the minute but when I get the BCS downpipe I'll be going to upgrade to stage 2 which is free with APR. I can't fault the software had no problems and the power over standard was amazing.

Ride height isn't the best but is easily sorted with H&R or Eibach Sportlines lowering springs.

I am keen to know more about the exterior items you have fitted. The BTCC skirt can be picked up from Seat (SERE can help with this), where can I get the Triple R splitter & R duffuser from? If seat, do you have part numbers?

What spoiler have you both gone for? The BTCC one or after market?

No exterior mods for me, the car is in standard Cupra R guise.

Triple R splitter is obtained via Facebook I believe, the group is called Triple R Compomotive I think and the R rear diffuser is a dealer part, around £200.

People on here have been waiting over a year for triple r rear diffuser, cupra r diffuser would be a lot easier to get hold of.

I can't remember reading about or seeing any different spoilers. Just btcc and cupra r as far as I know.

No bother I'll let you know, but it will be a few month before I get the cat back exhaust as I have a few handling mods planned before the cat back.

Had the new 3.4 apr remap done at the weekend. All I can say is wow....to be honest it a bit too powerful. Going to need a new clutch and a LSD

Glad you're happy, I have the same v3.4 on mine, it's pretty good isn't it.

Replaced the clutch on mine too lol, have you considered upping the level of the diff that's on the car already? I believe it's set to a pretty tame setting where as on the Cupra R it's whacked up full.

Should just be a VCDS change I believe.

I already have BCS downpipe with 200cel sports cat and it flows so much better than stock downpipe, gets rid of a lot of the turbo lag

Getting catback fitted when kev gets his downpipe fitted, so I'll let u know what it's like

I've turned mine up to 3 (top) like on the R and to be honest I can't tell much difference to be honest.
