Finally pulled my finger out and painted my turbo heat shield and got to say I'm impressed with my own handy work, what I'm not impressed with though is the paint it's a supposed gloss black finish but turns out in the flesh it's matt black. To be honest I'll leave it till I get another gloss paint but for now at least it's better than looking a a bare/galv. Metal heat shield IMO.

Looks good mate. You could give it a couple of very thin coats of lacquer to give it that glossy look, as long as its VHT 1k spray paint. You should of done the engine cover too. Looks grey in the picture.

Yeah keep meaning to lower it but going to wait till summer when I have the 18"s on to give me a better idea of what to go for I.e springs or coilovers. Also might not be to everyone's tats but hey I'm not everyone and I like it, just this morning I de-wipered the car excuse the dirt lol going to wait for the bung to set first

Did you go for a plastic bung or a glass one? I've wanted a glass one for ages to do the delete but I can't seem to find any decent ones. So if it's a glass one could you post the link mate

The car has nice smooth lines and the delete compliments it nicely.

No mate it's a plastic one which comes with a cotton bud and some sealant (little installation kit) but got to admit it was surprisingly easy to do EVEN for me lol, I was apprehensive to start hearing all the stories of how the wiper itself feels like its welded on but mine just popped off.

use the handle on the inside of the boot to close the boot im sure the mk5 must have one.

Thanks Al I does it has 2, it's also where the screws are to remove the trim to access the motor and boot release.

James if your interested here's the link for the bung. If unlike me you put it in the right way it will sit flush with the window, I just put it in in a hurry to beat the rain but I think it still looks great.

Thanks joe I'm trying lol, I'm getting a TMC at end of the month so will go from 150ish to about 170-180depending on settings I think, then after that it's the wheels get them sorted refurbed and get a bigger polished lip on them, lower it and then finally spoiler, skirts and a yellow plasti dip(again probably not to everyone's taste) there the big major things but will do a few small bits and pieces inbetween hopefully

What's a TMC? A company's tuning box? Plans sound very good. Any thoughts on what to do with the curbed wheel yet? Time permitting, the Brembos will be off in early March should you still want them

Looking at getting it sorted by end of feb/March at the latest then get them refurbed after that and tyres on by April/May time. TMC is a tuning box mate yeah just a stop gap till I get everything sorted on the car so when I get a remap it'll be worthwhile and make use of everything. As for the brakes yes mate defo still want them let me know when your ready and ill pop round to get them fitted

Got myself a go pro hero 3+ black edition so thought I'd give it a quick blast in the car and see what it's like with a little iMovie editing, gotta say loving the DSG Farts so must obviously sound better when outside so once I get the suction cup mount I'll give it a try
