Hi there I've recently bought a Leon Cupra for a grand total of £925 after coming over from the Jap Scene. I previously owned a Celica GT which I adored but had to get rid as I couldn't afford a new windscreen after cracking mine :(

After going to a MR2 / Another Celica GT which couldn't compare I became sensible and bought a Leon Cupra :)

I've had it around a week now and have a list of things to do then I can get on with tweaking it how I want but that'll come eventually I'm sure

It's 2001 Y Plate and has done 123k with a full service history, The cambelt was done at 80k and is one of the things to get done soon as it's now 4 years since it's been done along with an oil change as it was changed 6k ago but is over a year since it's been changed so I'll get that sorted ASAP

Anyways it seems to be pretty safe and enjoyable car, The main niggle that I have is the remote central locking doesn't work, the light on the key fob flashes but the doors don't open unless opened with the key, the hazards flash then for around 10-15 seconds then go off and drives fine. It had door modules changed last year / new key / programmed etc so hopefully it'll just be a new battery needed :)

Also it appears to have a boost leak (a whistle) under hard acceleration so maybe it'll just be one of the turbo hoses to the intercooler. It pulls like a train when not flooring it and just whistles between 2 and 3k when pushing the throttle harder than usual so I'll get that checked also.

Anyways here's a few pics :)

It's nothing special yet but given my previous record with cars I think it could be providing it stays reliable ;)

Anyways C+C welcome please as I don't know much about these cars I've always been a jap fan

Cheers

Ryan

Thanks for the welcome, due to the car not being worth much I was Third party on insurance only so after the windscreen I had no windscreen cover and was getting quotes of between 3-400 pounds sadly :-(

Well it's been a while since I've done anything, I've realised I've got a better car than I expected considering I only paid 925 for it, It's done a trip to Gloucester / back to collect a set of alloys for a friend, It's been used as a wedding car albeit not a particularly glamorous one considering some of the other motors about.

I'll be getting her booked in for a service at Seat as they're only 129 for a minor service which doesn't seem too bad and instead of replacing the OEM air filter I'll go to a Green Filter instead I suspect due to having issues with the MAF's on Pipercross and K and N I've read about

Shortly down the line I'll get the boost leak diagnosed / cured and then the fun can begin with a remap / Forge 007p or the Bailey DV30 as well

I've debadged the car and I've tidied the scuff up on the rear bumper where somebody clouted the rear end in a car park :(

Also is there any reason why everyone seems to go for 18's for the Leon's? Not the LCR just the LC 180's as I don't fancy the 18's ride comfort / having to lower etc as well when I can be hunting performance lol

I'll get some pics when she's had a good wash and polish :)

Cheers for reading :)

Done,

A few pics as promised after I just nipped out today :)

I think it looks much cleaner from the back without the badges as well as being more amusing when people in Corsa's / Saxo's try and tailgate me then go past only to be left in the dust looking confused :D

Well some mixed fortunes with the car. It's due in for a service which it'll be getting soon hopefully still. It's got a whistle still under hard acceleration which must be a loose pipe or clip etc somewhere so after taking it round to my friends house and taking a look underneath we couldn't see anything

I've been told to put it in for a diagnostic test but instead bought a VGate Scan VS450 Scanner off eBay, Plugged it in and the car's not showing any faults anywhere be it engine or anything else so I'm a tad confused

The scanner's a great bit of kit as well as I plugged it into sisters Xsara Picasso and found faults with hers as well so for 30 quid it's a great bit of kit

Went down to the scrapyard after a new airbox as it wasn't sealing properly but didn't have any in although I managed to get a new climate control unit for the grand total of 20 quid and it seems like there's no faults with the display as opposed to mine which is bled out

Not a particularly great update but an update nonetheless lol

Well I should probably update this,

I've sorted a few of the issues mainly the water leak which has been sorted now seemingly so I'm happy,

I've crashed into a badger, ripped my front bumper to pieces, smashed my radiator and replaced that again, Now I've managed to find the love again so now I'm in the mood for fixing it rather than just getting rid of it

Next up I've got a wishbone to replace, a boost leak still to find (any help appreciated) a CCM to replace as mine's had it and a few other niggles.

I've got a few plans for it though so all being well I can start modding again :D

Well I've decided that the theme behind this is going to be OEM+ sleeper hence debadging the car so people think it's nothing particularly special because it doesn't have a bodykit

So to start off with seeing how my old tyres were misbehaving I bought myself some of these and fitted them

Next up I'm still working on repairs but I do need to sort my exhaust as it's missing the centre bracket so I'll be replacing it with a Toyosports cat back and then after the MOT I'll be decatting it with the spacer to hopefully free up a few more horses

I'm in the stage of trying to get the car ready for MOT time at the moment because I'm not too good at working on cars myself so I'm quite reliant on others to help out with it :(

More soon I expect :)
