Will 15" Steels fit for winter tyres?

Hello all,

My girlfriend has a Leon 1.2 TSI Copa on a 61 plate, where we live we get terrible snow and last year we could not get her car out of the road, luckily I have winter tyres on my car so we could get around but this year I have decided to do something about it, especially when she is carrying the kids.

Currently her car has 16" wheels, with 205/55r16 tyres, my plan to save money was to run the car with 15" wheels and then fit 195/65r15 to give the same rolling radius, or as close as possible.

My big question is will 15" clear the brakes, and also how do I tell the car that the new tyres do not have the pressure sensors fitted?

www mytyres co uk do a complete set of steel wheels and winter tyres for around £350.

Thanks in advanced.

Dunno about clearance but the wheels are not fitted with pressure sensors its done via rotation speed. You may be ok just resetting the tyre pressure switch after fitting your winter wheels.

As kazand said no pressure sensors in the mk2 Leon, so no problem changing the wheels. On a side note always check the pressure of all four tyres before pressing the reset button. This is because it puts the system in "learn mode" where it will store the rotation speed of each wheel. If the pressures are wrong then it will store incorrect rotational speeds.

As for the alloy size, sorry I don't know either. I believe 16" is the limit for a FR but not sure about a 1.2.
