I'm thinking I should give this a try in my PD170 but 1) where's the best place to get this gasket and 2) will it be ok to fit while still running with a DPF?

My cars been driving me crazy for 2 months now with hesitation, hiccups etc.. Took it the a VW specialist and they couldn't feel the hesitation but guess you know your own car better than anyone else!!! What's really weird is some days it almost rectifies it's self but then the next day it back. Like some have said stick your foot down and it goes like a bat out of hell but you just can't do that in town traffic !! :(

I got one from my local seat dealer the other day mate, just ring up tell them the part number (I did) and It'll show up on there system.

They didn't have one in stock, but it only took 2 days to arrive.

I put one on my old totally standard pd 170 Leon fr tdi that had dpf on etc, it also seemed to cure the stutter.

Great thanks for the info, I've found them on EBay through CupraRMark's suggestion and ordered one. I'll give it a shot and let you know how I get on. Hate the stutter

The stutter has since been proven to be a torque limiter on the ECU but for some reason the gasket does help

My gasket arrived today and hope to fit at the weekend.

You mention that this fault might actually be the ECU, well I've being reading some other forums and I found this one http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=12517 which suggests that the EGR's role in the engine seems quite important and rather than blanking or restricting it just keep it clean, particularly reading the 8th response by a ColinW.

As I've said before my car's driving me crazy at the moment and reading threads I really think my EGR value is stuck slightly open but what do you think about the comments mentioned in the Rover forum?

The gasket has defiantly helped mine a lot how I don't know but it's defiantly improved strangly my misses moaned last week about it and said it hasn't done it since on her....I didn't tell her I'd replaced the gasket... Worth a gander for a few quid and 5 minutes of your time...

If your still having issues after the gasket (didn't help mine), you should consider looking at the manifold actuator. 100% caused my stutters and rough power delivery. I also have an n75 and a Bosch maf that i could pass on for a reasonable price that you could try as a diagnostic test if your interested. Changing them made no difference to my car so the parts are in working order.

If you change the actuator you have to take the egr off too, so cleaning it will obviously be something you can do too

Has anyone got a link for a site to get this gasket from? I can only find full on blanking plates

Hello,

Looking for some advice!

My car is a 2008 Pre-FL FR Tdi. Standard.

I was on my way home the other night and found pulling onto the motorway a stutter after 2850/300rpm on full throttle. I repeated this again on the way and found it happened consistently at 2850rpm+ in 3/4/5/6th gears and kept stuttering until I let off the accelerator. I tried to see if it happened on part throttle but it wasn't really apparent (either it didn't exhibit at part throttle or I just couldn't feel it as much). The car pulls smoothly below 2850rpm.

Now firstly I was thinking it might have been VNT related because my turbo has been whistling slightly... but then started thinking it was DPF related because last night (it was still stuttering) until suddenly the car cut-out whilst driving (like the common "stall" issue people have....) then a huge guff of DPF fumes. Restarted the car rolling and got home. Now this morning the stuttering after 2850rpm seems to be gone? I also drove the 40mi into work today in 4th at 2500-3000rpm to try and clear out my DPF.

But now I've found this thread I'm wondering if maybe it might be EGR? What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance!

Give it a good clean out on the EGR and while it is off swap out the gasket from the feed pipe to an Ibiza one the AndrewJb has somewhere is a thread. I did this a few months ago and haven't had an issue with the stutter since

diesel filter could be dirty. Seems to be a common problem. On the Dutch Seat-online forum a lot have had this problem.

'Tandem' pump has been broken, and leaks oil into the dieselpump. The filter allows a small flow of diesel, but when more RPMs are requested it cant deliver. It's clogged with oil...

Costed me 450 euro..

Did you have the diffusers already replaced? It was a recall last year.
In The Netherlands we had the recall this year.

Right, can i just ask if mine is the normal " stutter issues"

Had mine remapped 2weeks ago to Shark stage 2 with Dpf ( delete ) .

on the stage one map i never had a stutter...now i've had it 3times @ around 3/4500 rpm in 3rd when the cars warm.

would that new gasket help sort it?

Or is it an issue with the new stage2 shark map?

Thanks..

Hey mate,

The gasket will help but I think it could be the boost hitting the ecu limiter.
I've had this issue before and spoke to shark and they altered the map slightly to fix the problem :)

Speak to miko/Ben at shark and I'm sure they will sort you out.
Its the boost spiking past the limiter and stutters as a safety feature.

I'll go & see my tuner on Friday who fitted the shark stage 2 map with the above information & get him to sort it with shark, I payed good money for all the work I had done so hopefully they can sort it out Friday, I'm guessing Shark could just send a New Tweaked version of the stage2 map...
