Sorry another post about LED DRL's and side lights.

A little confused on what to buy as i have been on hids-direct website and came accross these:

Sidelights: http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/501-w5w-extreme-power-5w-cree-led-canbus-smd-bulbs-white/

DRL's: http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/382-p21w-5w-cree-smd-canbus-led-bulbs-white/

They look really nice and different to what i have searched for on here over the days and it appears more use these. see link below:

http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/382-p21w-5w-cree-smd-canbus-led-bulbs-white/

Im not sure if the above links are correct for a Seat Leon 2009-onwards and not sure how the new ones will look on agaist the reflective light housing as the old style has lots of exposed LED's and new ones look to have just one incased?

Any thoughts before I contact them direct and sound like a noob.

Hi mate, ok, I bought some of the side light "cree" one's, and yes they are very bright .. but -

they project a pretty strong beam I found rather than spreading the light around the lamp which is what you want really, they also caused a "bulb out" warning, and randomly stopped working altogether :( .... I have gone with the SMD's now, and am currently awaiting more from HQ Auto Lighting for my stop/tail lights and some more front sidey's as I used the pair I had in the tail lights in the hatch door ;)

Hi mate, nice one and thanks for the feedback. I had done some more research of the "cree ones'" and that was my main worry about how bright the single capped LED would be and to be honest i don't really want them both to be too bright for DRL's and Sides and had noticed also they are not 'Error Free' like the main ones posted on here. Oh and I now relised what 'SMD' means lol :)

Would you recomend HQ Auto Lighting over Hids-Direct? Do you have DRL's also?

Having used both companies yes, I will use HQ from now on I think .. but plenty on here use HIDS also ;)

Mine dosnt have DRL's as standard, though I think I'm going to retro fit some of the higher quality ones before long, just need to do a bit more swatting up on the whole procedure first as I'm an electrical cabbage

Well I took the plunge and ordered through Hids Direct for both the sidelights and the drl's and will try and fit for the weekend :) just hope they be worth it? I've seen a couple of threads on here with both fitted with pics and they do look bright especially the drl's but I suppose its going to look better than yellow ;)

I ordered LED replacements for DRL and sidelights from HIDS Direct last week, I'm hoping they might arrive today. Can't wait to get fitted as they OEM look rubbish, especially when the Xenons are on!

Kinda why I prefferred HQ, you order from their website one day, and its here the next usually :), that and a bit of misinformation about the "cree's" which are now sat on a shelf in the garage [:@] ... oh, and also HIDS charged me for first class recorded without asking, then they took a week to come!! ... HQ use standard first class royal mail and they arrive on the door mat the next day without someone having to be in and sign for them :)

Hope all goes well for ya chap .. the front side lights can be fidly to get to, but easy enough :)

Here is a close up of the LED DRL

Nice one mate and looking very nice indeed ;) can't wait to get mine now and get them fitted too. Had a little look today in advance on how I am going to do it. Like everyone says looks pretty easy enough, just take off the plastic cap and 'hopefully' the bulbs are easy to get out as first impression looked a bit fiddley.

Got an email today off Hids direct to say my order is shipped so I hope they come before Saturday :D

Honestly mate it's so easy to do so I wouldn't worry at all.

The DRL rotates about 1cm to unlock it and then simply slides out.

The sidelight just slid out without having to do anything, even easier!

Did both bulbs on both sides in about 5 minutes.

;)

Looks well nice that [B)]

Thicko question time .. on the facelift models with DRL's, looks to me like the DRL is where my high beam lamp is  ... hows that work then ? where's the high beam lamp with this set up ?

I just found this out too and your right and I think the high beem is off the xenon's as I tested this with a mate of mine who has not got the xenon's hence no drl's too.

Hope that helps you but prob needs confirming as I am no expert either

Thanks :)

On mine the dipped and main beam are all done by the Xenon bulb.

Looks good. I've got some super bright sidelights, normal filament but they're not yellow like the OEM ones. I'can't seem to get the bulbs out to swap. I have a FL Cupra. How easy was it for you?
