Not much of an update but cleaned the EGR Valve, changed the air filter (just a standard genuine one for now), oil and oil filter .

This was the EGR Valve:

I frgot to get one after I cleaned it and my hands was filthy!

There is some kind of problem, as my temp guage is sitting at max temperature even though the fans aren't kicking in or the thermostat isn't opening so think I could need a new thermostat.

Just sorting the few little niggles before it comes on the road then I can start a few more mods :)

What the!! Whys it that manky?!

Seems to be a pretty common nuisance of modern diesels where the EGR Valve quickly becomes clogged up even after 20k on some. Mines done 104,000 so decided to take it off and see how it was!

Glad I did it though :)

After your comment, I see you've got a new car!

Good choice the PD130, and black as well ;)

Looking at your pics, it looks in much better condition (paint wise) than mine. Mine's a state :(

Think I may have to whip my EGR valve out, can't believe how clogged that looks. Is it easy to do? Is there a guide anywhere? :p

Thanks mate but I thought yours looked a lot better when I was reading your thread haha!

there was a guide I used but I cant find it now, this is what the valve looks like and is at the top of the engine

There are a few bolts holding it in and a clip I think ( I got my mate to do it for me) but its not hard to take off probably about 10-15 minutes :)

EDIT: This is the guide: http://pics2.tdiclub.com/gwillie/VW/Sballintake/INTAKEMAN101b.htm
