Right, I have been used to cleaning black second hand cars up until now so my first clean when taking the car on has always been

Wash with strong APC
Clay
Wash with Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild (Two bucket method)
Wax (Dodo Juice Blue Velvet)
Buff to high shine

Top up with QD's after normal washes (Now using Dodo Juice Supernatural Sealant)

(I have only ever once used a polish - Meguires Paint Clean and I made a right mess with it and it was so much hard work buffing it off that I decided to never use it again - I may have applied far too thick of a layer to be fair.)

But next month I am taking delivery of a spanking new Black Leon FR and am wondering whe the best routine would be to start now that I have a 'fresh start' so to speak with the paintwork.

I don't think it will need claying for a while and I would hope if I keep on top of the waxing maybe never while I own it (3 year lease) but should I really start using a polish on my big cleans? (I have my eye on DJ Lime Prime if this is the case) Also I will be buying a snow foam lance before the car arrives ready for its first wash.

Any help would be appreciated.

If its the first 'proper' wash then yeah give it the works. Run your hand over the new car after a wash and I bet it could still do with claying. Remember these cars could have been sitting around in the stock yard for a while.

So here's my list.

1. Wash with strong APC to remove most of any wax currently on it. The APC could be mixed in with the snow foam. I use the bigger bottle and have inch and a half of snow foam and around the same or two inches of APC for a decon wash.
2. Clay and quick wash again.
3. Some form of iron remover, Iron-X or something like it.
4. Wash again to remove all those nasty chemicals.
5. Sealant or wax.

Then on the next wash give it another wax then QD on the washes after that. May seem over kill but it all helps.

For the shine .Autoglym SRP New Formula Polish topped with DodoJuice Supernatural Hybrid Wax. Safe as houses.
Last thing on black or any colour, needing no correction is an abrasive cleaner.

you shouldnt need to clay the car, we usually give the car a single stage buff unless any correction is required and put a 3 year ceramic sealant on the paint,

OK, After taking in advice and reading up on the subject I have planned this.

1. AF Citrus Power Pre-Wash

2. Agitate crevices with detailing brush

3. Pressure washer rinse

4. Snow foam (2 inches of snow foam with 2 inches of APC)

5. Agitate crevices with detailing brush

6. Agitate all with Lambs wool mitt

7. Pressure washer rinse

8. Iron X on paint and wheels

9. Agitate all with Lambs wool mitt/Detailing Brush

10. Pressure washer rinse

11. 2 Bucket Method with DJ Born to be mild

12. Tardis on paint and wheels

13. Agitate all with Lambs wool mitt/Detailing Brush

14. Pressure washer rinse

15. Dry

16. Auto Finesse Triple

17. Buff Off

18. DJ Blue Velvet Wax

19. Buff Off

20. Auto Finesse Mercury Metal Polish on exhaust tip

21. Buff Off

22. Chemical Guys Wheel Guard

23. Buff Off

24. Chemical Guys - New Look Trim Gel

Wont be claying as I worry I would do more harm than good (Mainly because I don't think I have the right technique and apply too much pressure)
