Rattle on cold start up (DMF?)

Hi all

Started the car today (leon fr tdi) from cold (been sat for couple days) and it started fine no probs, no harsh sounds. Sat there for a bit while engine warmed, i didnt move anywhere, just sat while car was idling, and then after about 1 min there is this strange ever so slight rattle/clunk coming from what i thought was the pass side of engine (hard to tell tho). Gave it a tap on the revs, and the faint rattle/clunk could still be heard. It wasnt constant tho.

At this stage i was worried that it could be cam belt related, so i opened up bonnet to see if i could hear exacty where it was comin from and the sound had gone.

Drove it straight to the local VAG specialists, and they said it could be my DMF. He listened and said everythinh sounded ok, but if it does it from cold, drop off and let them investigate.

My question is: Am i ok to drive it like this? It had a Sachs clutch kit fitted (fitted approx 30k miles ago), so could that be the reason? Or am i worrying over nothing?

**EDIT**

Other thing i forgot to ask is:

If it does turn out to be DMF, do you recon its worth getting single mass flywheel kit + new sachs clutch fitted? Or should i stick with DMF?

Ok so i had another listen this mornin from cold start, and i am almost certain its the DMF

It only does it from cold though and i think/am hoping that it is at the very early stage.

The rattle is very very slight, you can barely hear it, and it ONLY does it when i tap the accelerator with the clutch pedal up. And it only does it at a fraction over the idle revs. The sound is like a faint judder - thats best i can describe it anyway lol

When i press the clutch pedal down, and tap the accelerato it dont do it at all. So thats whay i think its def the DMF

Have done bit of reading and generaly i think people tend to stick with DMF, so when the time comes i think i'll just get another Sachs DMF + uprated clutch kit...expensive tho.. not gonna get much change out of £1k after fitting etc. Hopefully it doesnt need doing straight away tho

One last question:

My car was fitted with new uprated Sachs Clutch Kit in 2010, mileage was 56k when fitted, its since done 30k miles.

Is it worth getting a brand new uprate Sachs clutch kit fitted again, or should i just get the DMF changed? Price difference is £500 for a new clutch kit, so i am not sure what my best bet is?

Any ideas what you think my best option would be?

I would get the clutch done why they had it apart if it was me but £500 for just the clutch kit is a bit steep.

yer i know what ur sayin, its just that it had an expensive uprated Sachs kit fitted 30k miles ago so i am hoping that this should be good for a while yet.

You don't seem to be having much luck with your new one. If going to keep it for a while get it done.

Yer will prob get new kit fitted.. Wont be for a couple months tho as i got to save up. £1k is a lot of money to have to shell out:cry:

Not having any luck at all.. I just pray this is it for a while. Least i'll know dmf and clutch will be good for a long time.....hopefully

But i love seat leons. Its my 3rd Leon and my 2nd FR+ :) gonna keep hold of this one so i just got to accept these kind of repairs will need doing at some point
