235 shouldnt raise the car at all as this is the width of the tyre, the 40 profile (height) remains the same
Ideally you'd want the wider wheels on the back too
However 225/40/18 is now a very common size and hence the tyres are cheaper
Being as the new wheels will be wider a 235 tyre wont offer any additional protection on the rim

Actually mate it does. The 40 is a percentage so the sidewall will be higher on a 235.

I have looked at several pictures online comparing 225 tyres on a 8" wide wheel and a 235 tyre on a 8" wide wheel and the 225's do have slight stretch so the rim is exposed more

I was meaning a comparison of rim protection on 225 on OE wheels to 235 on 8j's

Ahh yes then that it correct. I might have wrote it wrong. I was referring to running 225 tyres on a 8" wide wheel and why I'd prefer going for 235 on the new wheels but run the good condition 225's that I have for a short period. Seems like a bit of a waste otherwise

Or spend the day doing 11's everywhere and get 4 new tyres

a) you'll wear them out quicker than on the back which will let you get a full set of 235's quicker
b) I've always been told to put new tyres on the rear rather than the font.

Another thing to think about is the make of tyre you go for, My old Yoko Parada spec2 had a more stretched look to them than my Vreds and they are both the same size, I also had a lot more rubbing on the back inner arch liners with the Vreds than I did with the Yoko's

Yeah think I'm just being a bit lazy. Il most likely go down this route, put the 225's up front and see how the car is in terms of usability. If I find the fronts scraping more il raise the coilovers up front.

I am going to stick to Toyo. I looked on their website regarding the T1 Sport tyres Vs the T1r tyres which I currently have and it seems they are similar in how they would sit on the tyre

I was about to write on your thread saying thanks for the heads up on the wifi module That's the one I purchased and seems to be working fine. So easy setting it up, simply plug in the module, search for the network which was called 'clkdevices' for me, change this network to a static ip and adjust some of the settings and jobs a goodun.

Want to fill in as much of this stuff as possible as it makes the readings more accurate

Silly Rota messing me about a bit. They only have 3 of the wheels I have ordered and will not be getting any more. I've had to go for a different ET so most likely will need to change my 12mm spacers and possibly the 15mm ones also. Never-mind, they still on route to get to me by Monday. Will wait until the much awaited UK snow comes and goes and then I will get them ready to go on. Need to invest in some decent wheel sealant/wax
