Bumper looks FRESH mate! Nice one. Loving those brakes also. How do they feel?

It was bad enough for me not driving my car for a week and a half so I dunno how you can cope through winter months, especially when it's in the garage so close by.

467bhp and snow won't mix well though..

It doesn't actually live at my house, i've made a deal with my old man to keep it in his garage which is the garage you keep seeing in the pics as the house that i bought a while ago doesn't have a garage sadly but does have a driveway..

Initial thoughts on the brakes are good, won't really be able to tell much until i get them warm and get a decent run out of the car.

I'm tempted to put it back on the road at the end of Feb in time for the AmD meet but haven't really decided yet...

Ah I getcha... Nice deal you have going on there :)

Look forward to seeing what you make of these brakes. Certainly look the business.

Put it back on the road in time, you know it makes sense.

What a nightmare day I've had, decided I wanted to get the car out of the garage to give it a wash before it goes back under covers for the next few months.
Put my freshly charged battery on that has been sitting in the garage for a week and started it up and drove it out.
Gave it a wash etc and then...... Car won't start!!!
Did a bit of investigation tried new spark plugs, new coil packs etc etc, spark plugs where looking wet so it looked like the plugs were not firing, gave them a clean up and tried again. Still nothing!
After a few hours of head scratching a traces my steps back to what had been touched since it started a week ago and this led me to the battery! Jump started it from another battery and hey presto it fired and ran... How can a battery have enough energy to turn a car over many times but not have enough energy to spark 4 spark plugs is beyond me! Anyway, going to buy myself a new Bosch s5 battery as I've got a feeling mine is f'd!

Hi James, I bought a Bosch S4 last week from Eurocarparts. Unfortunately they didn't have an S5 in the Nottingham branch. The S4 has 60amp hours and 540 cold crank Amps, which is not too far off the S5. Anyways, Eurocarparts have a 15% discount on top of their Christmas discount prices. I used dc BATTERY 15 last week. Nice little saving :)

Cheers James... I haven't had much lug with batteries recently my S3 on the peugeot I run about in has died as well. Might put the S4 that is currently on my R onto the peugeot and treat myself to a battery from Optima... they look the business!!

Cams

Has anyone got any experiance with 1.8t cams...

I had set my eye on a set of IE street cams to go into my build when the car goes up to Bill @ B5 later in the year to have some mapping tweaks but the availability seems to be shocking, i've been in contact with IE a few times and they don't seem to know when they will be coming back into stock. They seemed to have offered the best of both worlds with regards to OE idle but with a decent power gain <50hp>.
With them not knowing when they will be coming back into stock I have been looking into other options and stumbled across these.

http://www.034motorsport.com/engine-components-18t-camshaft-set-18t-cat-billet-3658-p-20105.html

They are made from 1 piece billet alluminium by the looks of things but the cam gears are bolt on  not sure if these are 'trust worthy' obviously they will need to be coupled with an adjustable CAM wheel and from the discription they need to be 'tweaked' to get the best out of them and where I want the power band to increase...

has anybody had any experiance with these?

Only thing i can see in there that would worry is the very precise setting needed due to the VVT
Depends how quick you want them too, i know IE are pretty swift at sending stuff out

But IE don't have any of their cams in stock... I would really like their street cams but no word of when they are likely to get any again...
