I'll see what offers they have on the SPS controllers when it gets the exhaust and map. I really like the idea of using the cruise control stalk through the APR software that Awesome GTI offer. The only reason that a map would be put on is because it'll need one with the exhaust. The exhaust is blowing slightly. I'm stage 2 so why not :) Then body work, and it should be a minter...

If you fancy meeting up before you move you're welcome to have a drive of my car and try the diff. Have you though about having a custom map if you go stage 2? After the work Bill and Niki have been putting in REVO is a bit old school now. I know what you mean about the paint work. I'm thinking about having mine rapped as I'm no detailer!

I'm not aware of many 1.8T's running APR, I know a lot of the TFSI lot run it though.

Both of those (niki and bill) do Revo. I can't see much difference for a stage 2 car maybe a stage 3 where it gets very custom indeed. It's more the launch control etc they've been working on. But I wouldn't have any of that without rods and uprated internals throughout the engine.

TBH, I've always avoided a remap as I've wanted maximum reliability - plus I'm more about show than go with cars ATM (no judgements please...hahah). It's an old car that is on it's original internals, turbo and clutch. The purpose of a map at this stage would simply be for the exhaust to be worked in. With all the bodywork taken care of over the summer, I think I'd be very content with her. It'd allow me some time to be on 'Daddy duties' without having to sink any large sums into it... Until I decide to go performance crazy with a full engine overhaul, which I'd love to do eventually.

Honestly guys, I really can't wait to strip the car down and prep it all for the body shop. It's going to have some subtle shaves and deletes, which should look brilliant, and the picture that RDS posted is the super deep and glossy look that I want to achieve. In my mind, I have the Players '13/ ED38 shows as my timeframes for getting the car done, but we'll see :)

Between the two of them they discovered torque intervention was happening mid range on some stage two and behond cars. Eventually it was discovered that the ECU was doing as a safety perciusion. So they found away to get ride of it and smooth out the maps further and gain more performance. At least that's how I understand it. REVO stopped development a long time ago on our engines and it left to people like Bill and Niki to move the game on. Which they have done big time!
There's Boost building launch control, liner maps, full throttle shifting, left foot braking and in development is raw mapping on hybride and BT cars.Exciting times! Plus the both do full health checks, before and after RR and custom maps for less than REVO.

That's very interest to know. Very exciting times ahead by the sounds of it :)

Very exiting plus Bill is developing a few hard wear bits which should help even more.
Offer is there if you want to try my diff.

So are you planing on going to Players next year James ?

Definitely Darren. Hearing how good the show was this year, and that you all had a great time there, I'd like to attend 2013's show. I've been attending Ed38's show for a couple of years now, and it's brilliant. I alway go to UD at Telford in March, and I might try a couple of VW shows at Santa Pod, for a bit of variety. Would be great to meet you all finally

OBD-II WIFI WLAN and Supporting Software…

I’ve always wanted a Liquid Gauge but have never been lucky enough to find one at the right price. Speaking with Tom about some alternatives, I stumbled across a piece of kit called Innovate Motorsports OT-2 which you can buy through PSI Tuning, amongst other places. It runs with an OBD-II Wifi interface, and with the software, you can have it running through your i-Phone, i-Pad, Laptop, etc. It has a whole list of functions, which come close to matching the Liquid Gauge, including diagnostics and fault clearing facilities. The interface is roughly £126 and the software, through Apple Apps, is free.

It seems like a great bit of kit, but on some of the reviews, the software hasn’t been updated for a while and some of its features have reportedly lapsed. So I had a look around and came across a piece of software called DashCommand, which is produced by Palmer Performance engineering. It’s available through the Apple Apps for £34.99.

Here’s a link for the software:

https://itunes.apple.com/app/dashcommand-obd-ii-gauge-dashboards/id321293183?mt=8

Here’s a link for listed hardware through PalmerPerformance.com:

http://www.palmerperformance.com/hardware/index.php

I’m really impressed with the outlay of this App, so I’m going to give it a go. So, reading about the compatible hardware needed, Wireless/WLAN is preferred over Bluetooth. The reason for this is that in some of the reviews, maintaining connectivity with Bluetooth had been a bit problematic. So, I searched eBay for an OBD-II Wireless WLAN:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110868423524?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

For £26.99 plus P&P, in conjunction with the cost of the hardware (totals approx £67.00), it’s a cost-effective alternative to either the Innovate Motorsports OT-2, V1 Performance OBD-II Logic Race Tuning Box, or the Liquid Gauge.

It might turn out to be a bag of pants, but I’ll let you know. I really like the idea of keeping the dash totally standard, and although the installation of the Liquid Gauge is excellent, may be this could be a feasible alternative? I think the Liquid Gauge may be the superior product, but hopefully the DashCommand OBD-II will be a very close second.

I hope you have found this information of some use? Any guidance/further information would be greatly appreciated. It should be here next Friday so I'll let you know more about it then :)
