And to add I don't think there is a fault with your car, you just expected more and there isn't that much more to be had. How long ago did you get the remap? Tell them your not happy and ask for a refund,get a ko3s and get the results you wanted with a custom map from the likes of r. Tech . That's my advice.

Lol at that!! My post were me actually trying to help you yet there obviously not decent!! What an ungrateful nob! Expecting bypasses to give power increase! All i was saying is they wont! And from them mods i wouldnt expect a fat lot more if an increase.

why you chucking your toys out the pram? I wasn't saying your posts were not decent. and where did I say I expected a power increase from a bypass? I think youl find I said it "made a fair difference that I put down to old perished vac hoses"

Yeah ko3 053 is right I think.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say the import turbos from eBay actually are fine and around 230/250 new. People have used these to good effect just like people buy garret replicas from Japan at like 1/5 of the price. This is going to open up a can of worms and lots will say they are cheap( yes they are)/crap etc but I really don't think that's the case. There are a few threads on other sites that back this up just do some research, if I upgrade I'll be buying one.

yea I do agree I definitely had high expectations of the remap I think. think I will upgrade turbo and get them to tweek the map. also yes I did look at the import turbos but just as you says I read a post basically saying they were crap. think all do as you say and do a bit more research. still do no wether to go k04 or k03s. Its killing my brain haha.

It's either that or buy a second hand unit that you have no idea what's happened to it. Like I said I'd go ko4 for the mid range benefits and peak benefits its a no brainer I can buy them for the same price and they are the same fitment.

You do need supporting hardware though like intercooler etc and I'd recormend looking at brakes your be needing to stop and standard brakes are shocking.

cheers man! definitely worth looking into. already have the intercooler and a 4 bar FPR. and because its a cupraR it has the 4 pot brembos they do work awesome like. thanks for the input tho all let you know what happens as it happens. most likely new turbo tho!

'k03s' are k03 052 (silenced) and k03 053 (unsilenced)

k04 001 is the same fitment as k03 but the any other k04 will require lots of other parts, dp, mani, oil water lines, tip etc....

A turbo intake pipe for me is a must when moding because the standard one will collapse underload and resrict the car aswell.

Your right and wrong, you do need a tip because the standard one won't fit over the turbo but the standard one is metal and doesn't collapse (although it is very restrictive)

For some reason I forgot you hat Brembos, your brake will be fine lol

My point was a k03 variant tip will not stretch over a k04 (except the 001) so if you already has a tip for your k03 You will require another for the k04.

Tho bill does the 3inch tip for the k04 ... But would require moving things to make it fit lol

only the bottom 6" is metal the rest is p155 poor rubber which is probably ~10-13 yrs old now so possibly perished also

ive seen a few threads where the standard TIP has been the cause of problems after mapping, either stopping flow or collapsing under load completely

It's bigger than 6" and the ko3 tip does not collapse, although as I said before the metal part is quite restrictive anyway.

Top and bottom is to fit the ko3s/ko4001 you need the ibiza Cupra tip so it fits over the turbo inlet,that's why you need it,the plus side is better flow and looks. It's not a recommendation it's a must to fit the turbos

I'm not sure you know what your talking about, things are being made confusing and it really shouldn't be.

Mate if you took the time to read all the thread you would know to what point the thread has got to. Your not understanding what's being said and jumping the gun,and confusing things.

The thread poster and I have come to the conclusion that there isn't actually a fault with the car he just expected something he wasn't going to get from a ko3 (standard turbo), I explained to him although it was 180 bhp standard it's still standard Cupra hardware and there isn't much to gain from a remap on the Cupra r.

The thread poster was suggesting a new turbo to fix the "lazy turbo" issue, I personally think this is crap his tuner has said to blame the car for him not getting the results he was expecting.

With this I suggested/confirmed with the tread poster that a turbo upgrade of a ko3s and ko4 001 would be a good easy upgrade and it is what he needs to do to get the results he wants. All the way through we have been talking ko3s an ko4001 turbos.people not reading the thread properly are confusing this (you being one of them) and chirping in with ko4 o23, having done this upgrade I don't and havnt suggested this to him and he hasn't suggested he wanted it.

A standard ko3 tip will only fit on a ko3 as far as I'm aware it will not fit on a ko3s turbo (hopefully bill will confirm this) and even if it did it wouldn't be good for power gains as it will coke the turbo. It will choke it due to it being restrictive in construction not it collapsing,therefore you need an upgrade ko3 mk3 Cupra tip to fit the turbo.

Hope this makes sense, and as to me talking **** that's just not the case I've offered much better advise in this thread than you have (well let's face it I have read EVERYONEs posts and know what people are talking about)

Turbos we are talking about are ko3s and ko4001,direct fitment turbos that's it

Mate im really not gunna read all that, im merely pointing out his issue could be the tip, not talking you or commenting about all your bigger turbo post im talking to the op whos thread it is thats having issues with his mapped k03.

And also thats your opinion that he expected more, your not the only person with opinions mate, personally he should get more than an extra 8bhp lol £500 for that!??? Really 8hp more something is a miss other than expectations.

Ps ill say nomore your clearly the man with all the answers.
