Jake likes playing with tools and taking things to bits. His sister is a speed freak. She prefers me driving and likes my car more than my wifes. She sits there saying "faster Daddy". Between the three of us we'll be getting in lots of trouble in a few years.

Thanks to tOm an Awsome package turned up today.
I decided to take advantage of Awsome GTIs black friday by buying Red 2.0TFSI coil packs and INA adaptors.
New brake pads have also arrived so I need to get them fitted one weekend and the TT strut brace. I've managed to get a few coats of paint on the charge pipe, inlet manifold and rocker cover but the crap weather is not helping.

My clutch turned up today with a forge 008 Going to fit the 008 when I get in.
Willie has sent the diff out for delivery today should be at my mates garage on Thursday. Should be on in the not too distant future...

I wondered what you'd bought. Take it you've gone for the SMF setup? I'll be interested to hear what you think of the 008.
When you get the wavetrack fitted you'll wonder why you haven't fitted it sooner. Even in standard trim the LCR needs a diff. It'll put a big smile on you're face

Nice purchases. I'm gutted I missed the Black Friday offer. I still need to buy my coilpacks and adapters. My car is sat in the garage feeling pretty miserable for itself whilst waiting for me to buy the parts to get it running right again.

Mines not running well at all. It feels flat and not very smooth around town on part throttle. I hoping new plugs and the coil packs will help. A new pre cat Lambda sensor is a must after Christmas and I may treat it to a new N75 valve as well.
I spoke to my brother and he only replaced one coil pack in the five years he owned it. So I guess three of them are nearly ten years old know. there's always something to do.

These have turned up from Awsome today. Again fast service thanks.

Please someone tell me that they'll fit!!!
It's new brake fluid and discs and pads on the front tomorrow. Depending on how cold it is hopefully I'll fit the 42 Draft bushes and the TT strut brace. It'll be good to have brakes that work.

Thanks Slim it's not that great to look at be I like it. The state of the paint work is appaling for nine year old car. Especially as one of my brothers (the previous owner) friends is a car valator by trade. My broher paid him to give it a full clean, polish and wax once a month. Im pleased with the slow progress on the mechanical side though.Great looking car, hopefully they fit and you can persuade me to buy some
I haven't fitted the coilpacks yet as I've not ordered any new spark plugs yet. Also I may wait until I fit the rocker cover and catch can etc, after Christmas.

I'm definately interested to hear how you find them mate, I wonder why they went for round bushes when the OEM are square 
there's going to be gaps in the corners, but if they work then happy days

The play in the old bushes
First you have to remove the rubber bush. I pushed the nylon collar out with my fingers and removed the rest of the rubber with a knife.*

As you can see there are two sizes of bush. The smaller diameter hole is for the side to side and the larger for the back to front.*
They are to small a diameter to fit so the needed to be opened up a bit. I did this nice and slowly with a punch, oil and wet and dry.*
When they just slid over the pin I oiled it lightly and slid it on (oh matron).
Then did the same for the upper part of the bush. Replaced the clip and all done.

There is no longer any slack in this part of the shift it's rock solid. It nice and easy to do. It just takes a bit of time to file them down.*I haven't driven the car yet as the brakes are next.

Looks like these will make a nice difference indeed! If I've sparked an scn lcr buying mod here I am going to ring awesome gti about some sort of commission, although the original tip came from D.K! So he deserves the credit for eyeing these for the cars. I didn't know they existed until he mentioned them to me a while ago.
Looking forward to your write up once the cars been driven mate.
