Hi all, first post though i have read a lot of peoples threads !

Just ordered a brand new ibiza fr 1.2 tsi in white with a load of options on, technology pack, bluetooth, sunroof, 17" , parking sensors (being retro fitted) and safeguard paint protection.
should be getting in by the end of the weekend hopefully as it was just sitting in the docks waiting for me to come and buy it :)

i know about the safeguard being a rip off, i only got it because if i got that i got gap insurance free, and i live in a treey road so my car will get a lot of tree sap and bird poo so the lifetime warranty should come in useful!

but its the first new car ive brought, so can anyone give me any advice, questions i need
to ask or any things i should pay attention to when i pick it up or just running it??

And one question - do seat do a 7 day drive away insurance with new cars?? would come in useful so i dont have to rush getting insurance sorted.

Thanks, and nice to be here :) rather excited if you cant tell its a bit of a upgrade from my old crappy 307.

I've had 2 brand new cars, and with both of them, the first thing I did was get underneath them and brush paint liquid waxoil on any nuts/bolts/brakepipe joints etc I thought might corrode in the future - so they will undo and not seize. (then I ripped off loads of bits I just paid for and replaced them - but thats just me!) ;)

The dealer should normally phone you a week or so before pickup to arrange the 7 day insurance.

I just bought the same car and pick up on Monday.

thanks, the dealer said he would ring me today with the reg and stuff so i will ask him then, is it something they can sort out without you, or do you need the dealer code
and go to aviva or whatever and do it yourself?

just waiting for that phone call to find out when i get it!

Once you have the reg number and dealer code, you phone the Seat insurance line and arrange the insurance. The phone number is 0800 316 7894.

Dealer then gets an email with the cover note so they can tax the car. Only thing to note is that the excess is £500 so best to arrange your own insurance for the same day.

It's Sod's law that something will happen if it's your first ever brand new car. My first ever new one was a VW Golf in orange ! Some idiot threw a coke can out of his lorry and it hit the bonnet right on the front edge making a big crease - GB sticker covered it for four years and was still there when it was sold :)

Good luck.

I was surprised how cheap the insurance is for the 1.2 TSI FR, I got a £30 rebate from the insurance company after changing from my 1.6 TDI sport and I was quite a few months into my policy.

thats good to now, im coming from a 1.4 and only got 3 months left on current insurance. hopefully itl either stay the same or go down, then in 3 months time i can renew with another cheaper company.

but yer its one of the reasons im going for a 1.2 tsi, in a ideal world i wanted a clio rs, could of afforded the car but the insurance was like £1800, then vxr insurance was £2300. just silly money, so i thought ild get the ibiza which is cheaper in every sense , and it not as fast yer but it fast enough for me :).

Although couldnt give it the full beans in the test drive as the guy moaned at me for going round a round about too fast ( i thought it wasnt fast at all) so i slowed down there after. Would of thought he would want me to show the car for its full worth.

Amen.
Picked mine up to find that manuel was less than bothered about dropping clothes on the floor then wiping cars down with them. Found a nice scratch from the rear to front passneger door.

got the dealer to throw in some mats (this was in the days before it came with them as standard) and buffed it out myself as soon as I got home.

just wish the other paint damage that's happened since was so simple to remove :(
