I love my 1.2TSI

Took my car in for it's first service to day and at first Hatfield SEAT said to me "did you know they've booked you a VW Caddy van as a courtesy vehicle....""

They were serious... but luckily for me they had 4 new courtesy vehicles to book in so she gave me one of them a 5DR 12 reg (facelift) ibiza... I was sneakily looking at the list and hoping she'd give me the new Mii as I fancied a play!!

Must say that the courtesy ibiza which I'm assuming is just a normal 1.4 and it's a fairly low spec model is not a patch on my 1.2 TSI sportrider - I mean I knew it wouldn't be but it just goes to remind me just how great that TSI engine is. It's not a bad car at all but I've got so used to my TSI now that I stalled it pulling away almost straight away. It's much more like my old 1.4 to drive and lacks the poke and most noticeably the torque that the TSI has. I've gotten so used to being able to accelerate away from only a little over 2000 revs and having it happily burbling along at 1000 revs when in traffic queues that this ibiza felt hard work to drive.

Also I guess I'd got used to the sports suspension... this ibiza feels soft though I know no ibiza is really soft.

I guess it's not til you try the alternative that you realise just how much difference things like the sports suspension makes - I hadn't really thought about it much before.

SOOO glad i paid the extra for the 1.2TSI, I've never regretted it. Superb car!:D

I ordered a 1.2 TSI FR today to replace my 1.6 CR TDI. Didn't even bother test driving one due to the reputation it has here.

Ooh nice one.

Mines' just the "standard" 105bhp 1.2 (I haven't looked at the specs but I'd guess the FR version has more??) But driving the 1.4 again has definitely re-opened my eyes to how good the little TSI is...! I guess you get used to it after a while so it's nice to be reminded.

I also have the 105 TSI. My older 2.0 16V peugeot was faster, but still it generates plenty of power and torque for being a 1.2 :D

The current Seat deal with 3 years free servicing, £1600 off, and low rate finance is not bad.

I managed to get one from stock in white with 17's, tints, parking sensors and bluetooth/usb.

Yeah the no deposit finance deals they have on at the moment are rather tempting, but I really dislike the lack of equipment on the new models. I think a used 2011MY Sportrider 1.2 TSI similar to the OPs is probably the best to go for.

I love my TSI too!! :D I had a 1.4 COPA as a courtesy car and the only thing I liked was the gearstick, lol! I couldn't wait to get mine back - the 1.4 felt so slow off the mark, and like you I found pulling out of junctions quite hairy and had to wait for a larger gap in the traffic than I usually would with the TSI! Having not long ago renewed my tax disc, the £30 for the year put yet another smile on my face! Mine is a MY11 Sport and I am so pleased with her! I normally get bored with a car after a year or so, but the Ibiza is staying for quite some time! The longest I have ever kept any one car was 3 years and that was a 1.6 M reg Escort that had similar power.

Yeah it's well equipped- only thing about it I don't like is the lack of speakers in the back and the fact that the seatbelt keeps strangling me (3 dr model) but they're fairly minor points.

I'll be keeping mine for ages hopefully. I had my last rather boring 1.4 Ibiza for 5 years!! I loved it but I'd picked probably the worst engine in the line up!

Just coming back to this thread 2 years later and my car is now 4 years old and has 60,000 miles. I still love it. It's a brill little car so much so I decided to spend out and get a mate of my husband's to do some work on the paint work where there was little dinks and scratches and sort out the 3 wheels that had bad kerb damage. He did a brilliant job - mates rates but still a fair chunk as he usually deals with high class cars (and has been known to be asked to give a brand new car a better than new finish). When he gave the car back to me he was singing it's praises and going on about what a great little car it is (he usually drives a big BMW 4WD..).

Proud of my 1.2 TSI. :)

Here it is after the work :) Just need to fit those centre caps. Shame it was bloomin' raining when I picked it up.
