TBH its why I left the motor trade a few years ago. As a Renaultsport tech, I was being charged out at nigh on £100/hr and I wasn't even seeing 10% of that. The place where I'm semi starting up with we charge £35/hour but for forum members I'll be charging a bit less than that. advantage being where we have our unit its got very little over heads.

Where's your garage too? My old man has a Meganne sport and needs a Cambelt change.

Hes had a quote from a Garage round the back of Co-op in Keynsham.

Well...

Been having a little bit of a crisis recently with the car. Unsure whether to break it for parts, and buy something else, just settle as it is, carry on ploughing cash into it... Then had the thought of making it a road legal racer to compete with Bill in the Combe saloons championship. I think this is the route I shall take.

After having a chat with TSR, about potential sponsorship, I walked out with a slightly lighter wallet, but a damned heavy package in the shape of this.

So mission is now on to get my Nat B licence, and get the car prepped during the winter if all goes well.

Have got as far as having the diff ready for installation, crown wheel is on and new diff bearings fitted. but didnt get any pictures of it.

I'm semi tempted with pulling an all nighter at the garage tomorrow night as I have the night off work for my birthday, and having the box out, split and installed ready for Combe on saturday.

Went at full chat, plenty of oil drained out the turbo, so this rules out a feed issue.

Engine came out today, ready for the 'big' build. "if at first you don't suceed, buy a bigger turbo."

Plan is new valves, stonger valve train and a HX35, as its all top end boost wise, ideal for a race car.

Been looking up specs, found a toledo 1.8t running an HX 35, spools for full boost @ 5000 holding 30+ to 8500, seems good for combe...

beware.. its not all about power, but tractable power and delivery for combe.

1a tyres is road legal?

list 1a are a very specific list of tyres, not as general as road legal (although by definition they have to be)
1b tyres are also road legal but not allowed.. and not just any tyre not on 1b but not specifically listed in 1a can be used. MSA blue book has all the info you need to confirm whats allowed
