I was getting exactly the same noise, took my cupra for its 30K service and it came back minus the noise but also the remap.

The noise also started after the remap but I guess my info is no use as you dont have a remap

Could then be the increased load put on the turbocharger by the remapping? As I wrote just above, I used to hear a similar noise (although very discreet) under similar circumstances...

It was a 40k service so plugs should have been changed.

Was your noise similar to mine.

Do you think they the garage could have done some thing wrong putting them in.

How much did you pay for your plugs and were did you get them

Sorry for all the questions

Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel .......

The noise was totally same as yours.

Don't know they've been doing wrong, or it is just the plugs what are faulty...

They were approx. 15€ each, so 60€ total... You should find them to be around £10 each.

I hope you get it sorted!

i have picked up some bosch platinum plugs today and am going to try and get them fitted asap.

I have started a thread to ask what the gap should be but can you remember what your ones were?

I have been told it should be 0.8 by others on scn, but i got these from Andrew Page and then checked euro and they list them as 0.7.

confused??????

I re-checked the car today. With some full-throttle pulls and boost pressure going up to 1.42, no re-appearance of that discreet sound I used to notice some months ago (very similar to the one mentioned here). The mystery remains...

Very interested in this as mine has started since the service gone from OEM Bosch plugs to NGK iridium bkr7eix plugs and it definitely whines on full throttle.

wel i am taking it to the garage at helf ten so when i get back i will give you guys an update.

if this does o et rid of it then i am going to get the turbo checked out for play,

To be honest though the wife is due to give birth in a few weeks and if it is the turbo i am going to be tempted to get rid of it and get something else.

i dont want to but i wont be able to and wont want to shell out what i estimate to be between 1.5k -2k for labour and parts..

We will see after today??

Well the new plugs are in and the f#*king noise is still there,

I am a little bit pissed off to say the least.

I think this could be the end of the road for the cupra i am afraid...

So it didn't show any difference in the noise at all? :censored:

Mine was doing idle much smoother right away, any improvement on yours?

I'm sad for you mate! :(

It idles fine and puls fairly strong it is litterally just the noise.

It is actually doing my head in now and really cant live with it.

I also cant afford to replace the turbo either!!!!!!!!

You have my sympathies, I can see the reason of your irritation, you have always this sound in the backround to remind you that perhaps something is going wrong or something bad will soon happen.

But since you have already paid some money for changes that did not solved the problem and since you have no loss of power anyway, wouldn't be wiser to stay calm and wait?

Alternatively, I suppose there are ways to have your car checked for boost leak, if you haven't already done this...

Hello mate still got the same on mine changed sparks aux belt and tensioner just had the cam belt done thinking poss sticky roller or tensioner and the noise is still there only areas I can point to are the Alternator the air con compressor as I've been told there are clutches in these that can wine when they are engaged. Turbo is fine on mine Keep us updated on you investigations and I will keep you all updated on mine hopefully there will be a cheap fix lol

Ps also fitted a P-Flo induction kit thinking whistling through the OEM box and only difference is the car pulls like a rocket lol

Cheers Jason

No mate nothing as of yet diagnostics got cancelled as my clutch has started slipping and they can't put it on the dyno am they will probably completely kill the clutch .

Still pissing me off. I am thinking about getting rid of my cupra to be honest.
