yes im keeping it. its bolted to the chassis so nice and secure. plenty of plastic between it so wont be shorting out lol it will be hidden anyway as my air filter will be above it with some heat shielding also. easier than trying to find an alternative

engine is finally in! sort of.......in the middle of poly bushing the front subframe but struggling getting the new ones in! so the front of the engine is on a jack atm but rear mounts are on. most of the wiring is done, aswell as the coolant hoses. bottom arms have been removed ready for poly bushing tomorrow hopefully. still need to grind the rocker cover down in order to fit the coil pack cover.

just the one pic of how it is at the moment

didnt have any money at the time plus vw quoted my £100! found some on ebay which i will get i think. its easy enough to change anyway!

finally managed to poly bush the front subframe using a huge press! its now fitted and secure on the car. just been sorting a few wires and pipes and hoses out today. engine earth cable is now fitted, external fuel pump is plumbed up. just need to do the wiring. fitted the front end aswell. bumper is only placed on atm and next i will have to start mounting the intercooler. headlights are on and plugged in aswell as the HIDs. not alot done today as been helping my bro change the lifters in his race lupo!

had a good idea about the catch tank fitted which is too small to use........im going to use it as my power steering reservior! just need to get a couple of adapters made for it and then its ready.

as for the walbro pump......do i just wire it into the in tank pump wiring??

few pics.....

update:

spent this afternoon making up a bracket for the new intercooler. took a while but got it perfect. had a load of metal lying around so cut it up, welded it back together and drilled all the holes. then gave it a quick spray on black. still got to make up some lower brackets tomorrow.

also tried to fit my wishbones but struggling a bit and managed to bend the end where the ball joint bolts to it so gotta sort that out tomorrow.

what do you mean by heat soak?? outlet is 2"
You can get heatsoak if your Intercooler is not large enough for your setup on hot runs loosing bhp. for example running my hybrid on forge Intercooler I was getting 30-40 degree intake temp. Compared to my toyo 3inch one getting 14 degree.

Car made 255bhp and 280ft/lb on forge cooler on repeated run
Toyo it made 280bhp and 347ft/lb. cooling is very important.
All I am suggesting is it may be worth going bigger than 2inch.
But Mines a tiny turbo that gets silly hot sure it does not matter so much on gt28rs

o sorry my bad. i thought you were talking about the turbo. sorry mate. cooler is 3". might be too big but we'll see when the time comes.

A I see sweet 3inch is way better. It won't be too big have a look at page 9 of my rr
Got really good results from mine.

got a bit more done today whilst freezing my ass off....

intercooler is now fully fitted. made up a bracket for the bottom so now its nice and secure. also cut out the crash bar so now thats fitted. turbo is loosely on......coolant/oil lines are on but not tightened yet. finished extending the wires for the throttle body and air intake temp sensor and then started to sort out the boost pipe routes. still need to cut the bumper as touching the cooler pipes but only a little.

few pics:

gotta love the size difference
