Does anybody know when installing a LSD into 02m gearbox, the bearings that sit on the ends of the diffs come with caps that sit in the gearbox housing, do these need to be replaced and how do you get the buggers out if you do?

Done a bit of cosmetic work over the weekend while I wait on parts. Cleaned down the cam cover and painted that, also done the aux bracket painted in black to go with the block.

Nice one mate :)

Good to see your cracking on with cosmetics during these 'waiting' periods.

Wavetrac and SEM mani will be awesome. The SEM mani looks mean as!

Wavetrac is probably what I will go for diff wise if I get there in the end with mine! Brilliant bit of kit.

It's a bit of a pain doing the cosmetic stuff but at least it's getting done.

Can't wait to get everything to finish it off. Hopefully won't be that long. As soon as the diff is here I can start putting everything back together. :D

Just had a quick look online with regards to replacing the bearing shims that sit inside the gearbox housing at the best way to remove them appears to be to heat them up and tap them out? Need to find myself a heat gun.......

Never done one myself no.

There is a way of manually calculating the preload from the endfloat and then just shimming it.
The more accurate way is to buy a special torque wrench that measures in small increments.

This was all stuff I needed too look into when the time comes to fit my diff.

Saying that it will probably cost you more in tools than it would too get someone else too fit it plus you wont have a warranty...

I think Alex is helping me do mine then I can keep my warranty as is would of technically have been done by BDM ;)

Exactly what I was thinking, was quoted £100 to fit the diff and assemble the gearbox.

Good to take your time mate, no point rushing something like this. Better safe than sorry.

Coming along nicely :)

Noooo defiantly not XS, it's made by TSR performance in the UK, fully back purged welds. They said the would guarantee the manifold as well but yet to discuss what constitutes going outside of it's spec.
