guys Can someone help me out
The remote ( only one i have ) from my wifes Leon died and she cannot open the door with it ( she can with the key )
I have a spare remote which I can programme but to do it I need a second key which I dont have. Is there any other way to program the remote to work with the car without using two keys ??

Yes it's a 2 key job. The other way to do it is using vagcom/vcds software on a laptop.
Personally I would go to a locksmiths and get a key cut, it wont actually start the car but should unlock it in the door ok, that way you can use that one in the door for programming and you've got a spare incase you ever lose the main key (or the car locks them inside!)

hi guys, new here, quick question as I'm about to buy a 2001 cupra but i noticed that the seller only has one key and it isnt the remote central locking one.

the question is, can i buy a replacement fob/convert this key to a remote one?
ie if i bought replacement blade and had it cut from that ebay link a couple of pages back, put that into a new replacement fob (dont know what freq it would require) and do the ignition/door key method , would that work? (would have to move the immobiliser chip from old to new after i guess).

if yes, then is there a way of getting a second key given I only have the one immobiliser transponder? can they be programmed in a similar way or is it something that a seat dealer needs to do?

thanks in advance

I just built myself a nice new flip key to replace the crapy one I got with the car. Here's how I i did it....

Buy blank flip key with Seat badges for £6.99 from eBay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEAT-flip...ety_Security&hash=item41618654be#ht_500wt_922

I then got the blank blade cut at tipson for £5

Then brought the electronic board for the remote from eBay again, For £27 (you could even get a second hand key for pennies instead, I did this but got the wrong type of board in it so just bit the bullet and got new)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170723439...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_2621wt_952

I used the transponder from my original key and just programmed the remote locking on the key as in the first page of this thread.
Im Chuffed to bits :)
Nice new flip key for less than £40

I thing I noticed after I'd done all this, my original key was 433MHZ and the one I brought and programmed was 434MhZ.
This didnt seem to make any difference whatsoever. (for my car anyway, 2003 Leon Cupra)

Got a 2001 Leon Cupra but it has no remote key, only the non-remote spare one. How do I go about finding what frequency my car is (the link mentioned doesn't work) and would I be able to buy the flip key items mentioned off ebay in order to get a flip key on mine?

yeah me too, i'm in the same boat. but chap above says that 434mhz worked when 433mhz was his original. so.....

i was tempted to go for http://tinyurl.com/7rbgyzs

but i'm still slightly confused with the whole reprogramming the remote situation. i understand the method involved but will it matter that I only have 1 immo chip? does that bare any relevance at all? just trying to work out exactly how/why it is required to put the new key in the car at all... the key cant tell its in there and there is no communication between the car and the key physically is there? its just a wireless tranmission.

anyway... my point is, if i get key listed above, get it cut, would the reprogramming it be - ok with just the one normal non-remote key i have?

also, if i have a immo chip in the new key is it possible to do with a vag-com cable myself?

In my experience yes you'd be fine.
Following the programming procedure... you'd put your current working key in the ignition and use the one you've just brought and had blade cut in the door.
this would program the remote central locking to work on the new key.

You'd then need to put your transponder from working key into the new one and it will start the car no problem.

Be then worth buying a blank transponder to go back in your original key. Obviously has to be programmed first.

This is exactly what ive done
Hope this helps :)

eh? reading's a wonderful thing too. this IS the leon flip key guide thread. and also it only tells you how to find the frequency of your key if you actually HAVE the remote key. which neither me nor scrappy do.

oops:shrug:thought u had just wantin 2 get a flip key thingy don'tkno how u tell frequency then as it's in all them numbers on side o ya key:confused:

hehe no worries. after writing that i felt bad and was just gunna edit it.. just in case you actually knew a way of doing it and i was being a tit :)

well fingers crossed about the one i've ordered.
As far as i can tell the part number for 433mhz is HLO 1JO 959 753 A. I think 434mhz ends in AG (which is the one i've ordered)
