Good evening.

Just after opinions/experiences of using "runway" tyres all round on a 52 plate Leon Cupra (tyre size 225/40/18).

Cheers,

Janners.

I had them on an old astra. My first car.

It's kind of ironic with their name, as they're better going in straight lines rather than cornering. I also think the chinese company got their translation for "Ditch Finder" wrong and ended up with "Runway".

It doesn't pay to skimp on the only thing that connects your car to the road

Awful. If you want to die buy them, but since those 4 bits of rubber are the only things keeping you on the road its a false economy, buy the best you can....

i got a set of 225/40/18z's for £37 each... they are LAME but will do for the winter months. when the weather improves the winter wheels come off and the oz's shod with Eagle f1's go back on (i recommend the Eagles not the runways)

Not very good then!

I am not personally looking at buying them, however the Leon I am thinking of looking at has them!

you have to think about whether you want to buy a leon off someone who has skimped on tyres. what else have they skimped on?

Lmao, dont touch those tyres, you should see the amount of people that do skimp on tyres, its something i would never consider, we get all sorts of cars in with weird and wonderful brand tyres on.

The best laugh we had was an RS4 with yellow triangle tyres all round....

I had these tyres when i baught my LCR!!!!! Runway enduro 916+ they were, and they were awful no grip whatsoever always making the esp cut in. I had them taken off after a week there in my garage at the moment. i dont really know what to do with them.

Probably stick them on ebay eventually. Dont even know if i want to use one as a spare yet?? as there brand new?!!!

Usually done by dealers when they need new tyres or an MOT on a car they bought, they want to spend as little as possible to make the most profit....

I had the Enduro 916 on my Focus ST when I bought it for exactly the reason above, the worst tyres I've ever had the missfortune to use, next to Star Millenium, and swapped them for Eagle Assymetrics at £400 and it was like a new car, so if you buy one with them fitted, as mentioned above, you need to factor in about 400 to change them......

Hi Janners, I have just joined the forum having found the site whilst searching for runway tyres and was shocked at some of the comments here so I felt I had to tell you of my experience of Runway 656 tyres.
I have lived in Spain for the last 9 years and have just returned to England bringing back one of the 2 cars I had there with these tyres on them. Both are Peugeot 406 one a saloon the other an estate. Both sets of tyres have done over 40000 miles, been on the cars for over 3 years and the front set is still good for another 10000. Admittedly the weather is dryer over there but it does rain very hard sometimes and both vehicles were driven back regularly including winter driving. I have never had a problem with braking or steering in all that time in rain or snow and would have no problem in fitting some more. I would agree that there is an increase in road noise initially however this improves as the tyres wear in.
Hope this helps.
