Alloy Wheel Deep Cleanse Detail

When I first pictures up the car, as you would expect I thoroughly inspected the paintwork and alloys for any obvious signs of damage. The car was in fantastic condition bar bird etching on the front passenger side wheel arch and a dried polish spot on the roof. These were corrected by the BMW cleaners with a rotary and 3M polishes to my surprise. BMW refused to let me polish those marks in there garage [they didn't know I am a detailer at that point]. Never the less it was sorted to my satisfaction and the brilliant thing is that because BMW paint is rock hard the bird etching go removed quite easily.

The wheels were clean but not what I would call good condition for a 6month old car. This weekend just gone I decided to give these a deep clean which involved using Valet Pro Bilberry Wheel cleaner and Wolfs Chemicals Deironiser to get rid of the stuck on iron and brake dust. They came out perfectly [more pictures will follow in due course].

Paint Enhancement Detail

As the car had covered 7.5k miles I expected the worst in terms of RDS and swirls. To my surprise she was in superb condition for a car thats come from BMW. The swirl marks were very light. The most noticeable defects on the car was the front drivers side arch. I decided that rather than give the car a full paint correction detail and paint enhancement would be enough.

Aim of the detail:
1) Remove BMW's poor quality polish / wax.
2) Cleanse Paintwork
3) Remove light swirls
4) Add depth and clarity
5) Protection for the coming winter.

Process:
1) Cleanse wheels
2) Wash body
3) Clay and de-tar
4) Machine Polish with Auto Finesse Rejuvenate
5) Protect paint with durable wax, Collinite 476s
6) Ongoing maintenance with 3M Quik Wax

Some pictures the day after I done a paint enhancement on her.

Sorry that there are no after pictures. Got a bit carried away with the Paint Enhancement part of the detail!

Nice car mate. How you finding the drive? Heard the 335D are pretty quick
Cheers El, going to write a mini review on the car when i get 5 minutes. Still learning what she can do but yea she is really quick.

what a machine, 335d's are the monsters of the diesel world
Cheers mate, it sure is.

Looking good JonJay, cant wait to see what you do with this! :)
Progress wont be as quick as the old Leon as I wont be doing same type of mods as she is amazing out the box.

Quite fancy a 335d myself, in the touring form tho. Bet it goes too. Remap not take it to 340bhp or something?
She sure does go mate, being twin turbo you get constant acceleration without it ever feeling its running out. Scares me a little I must admit.

Liking the new car a lot Maz! Sounds like there are very few regrets with buying this car and parting ways with the Leon?

How are you finding the rev range with all that grunt? Is it typically 'diesel', as in very short and sharp in first and second, or is there a nice progresive band when you give it the beans?

My oldest mate has the previous shaped 335D with a stg 1 map on it and it sounds like a roaring V8 under throttle... Surprisingly nice sounding and a brilliant air of smoothness to it through the power band...

Look forward to hearing about your progress with the new addition.

James.
