I've got hold of a de wiper kit for my cupra but just wondering a few things prior to fitting it and removing the wiper.

The piping that originally goes to the rear wiper, any ideas how to blank it off or remove it all together to stop water leaking every where if I accidentally press back on the right stalk

This isnt an mot failure if it originally had one fitted is it???

Cheers guys

You've purchased a "de-wiper" kit, what does that consist of? :)
I've done this on my Leon, cleans up the back end, plus less 'cluttered'.

All you need are plumbing putty to 'seal' end of the water pipe. Will stop any leaks.
Rubber Grommet/Bung to fit the hole in the glass. Both items can be picked up in Halfrauds.

1) Remove bolt and wiper arm from spindle.
2) Lift the tailgate, remove plastic tailgate trim (handful of screws and plastic clips).
3) Disconnect water pipe from Wiper assembly, seal end of pipe with the putty.
4) Unscrew the wiper assembly, 3 bolts if i remember, then remove from tailgate.
5) Secure the water pipe with a cable-tie to metal tailgate, prevent it getting damaged/rattling.
6) Refit tailgate trim. Close bootlid.
7) Fit grommet into hole in glass, job done!!

EDIT: Does not affect MOT at all having no rear wiper.

:)

It may not affect the MOT but you won't be able to see bugger all out the rear window in the wet /snow !

My Leon throws up so so much water and crap when its raining that I don't think I could do without it.

I missed having a rear wiper so much in my A4 cabriolet when the roof was up.

Plumbing putty?

I just disconencted the hose from the washer pump under the bonnet.

If I scoosh the wiper now the water just drips onto the floor under the front bumper.

:D

Can you take a pic of what you mean under the bonnet bud!
And I'm guessing your front wipers work fine still......

And a de wiper kit as in a proper replacement piece of glass to fit the hole!!

...so without sealing it, yours still drips somewhere. ok not from the pipe in the tailgate, now instead yours drips in your engine bay, around the bumper area.

The pipe has two ends (no ****), one at the front of the car, one at the rear, where it pops off the rear wiper assembly. I chose to seal it at the rear in the tailgate. ;)
(I only used a small blob of putty to seal the pipe on the end - I can easily poke out the putty from the pipe using a sharp knife, should I decide to put the rear wiper back on).

Calm down! wow! I only posted as I thought i could provide some help, plus several steps on each stage of the process, as I've de-wipered my Leon already.
If I knew my feedback would be scrutinized, I wouldnt have bothered posting.

LOL - Will end up like Coaches on the motorway, pissing out water, just while you are following behind it (someone used the toilet or onboard sink).
But instead, its Leons, where they've pulled the tailgate water pipe out from under the bonnet, but cant be bothered to temporarily seal it. :D

i jsut unpluged mine from the wiper, and stuck some putty up the end of it and then some cloth and tape.
it aint going to leak anywhere...and saying that im yet to even push the stalk backwards.

its a simple and effective mod imo! looks very impressive on the MK II.

cud disconnect pipe under bonnet and pipe it up to some headlight washers lol

Thats actually an excellent solution for someone who wants to de-wiper the rear, PLUS fit aftermarket HID headlights (and go the legal route fitting light washers too)!
Great idea. Have been there with the aftermarket HID's (previous car), not keen on the look - chavvy, wouldn't put my Leon through the same "humiliation" !! :D lol.

19mm from memory
I fitted a 17mm bung as they didn't have any bigger
Then used silicone to seal it up tight fit surprisingly

I would pipe up another line to squirt the screen wash out the left of the car... Next time a middle lane hoger in my way, simply squirt the bugger lol
