Ibiza Mk3 VR6 first in the country???

Hi guys, just thought id ask the question iv got my mk3 (2000) ibiza on the road now fully vr6 converted, is it the first in the country???

Iv seen loads of mk2 ones coz they are easy to do but no mk3 vr's???

Anyway i based my conversion off mk2 information and tbh it was a nightmare, quite alot of set backs but its on the road now, the full conversion took just under a week because of wiring issues (with it being a obd2 canbus system and i had bought an obd1 vr6 :/) and belive it or not... the throttle pedal

If your interested il get some pics up, heres what i spent and some useful info for anybody thinking of doin a mk3 vr6...

The car: Seat Ibiza 1.4 cool s 'w' reg (2000) £350 + cost of fuel towing it back = £430

The engine: 2.8 Vr6 obd1 (also came with gearbox/cable links & shifter/radiator/all ancilaries alternator PAS etc.../wiring loom/ecu obd1 non-immobilizer/exhaust manifold & downpipe/throttle body & inlet and everything else needed to run pretty much) £300

Clutch: Cable conversion used existing cable (modified a little) actuator and cable end holder from a Seat Toledo Tdi £15

Engine mounts: Gearbox mount original, Rear engine mount original (dissasembled, shortened and stiffened) Front Vr6 mount £10

Driveshafts: Mk2 Seat Ibiza Gti Cupra 2.0 16v £40

Brakes: Rear: Original drums.
Front: Mk2 Seat Ibiza Gti Cupra 2.0 16v Calipers with Drilled, Grooved & vented discs and Greenstuff pads £40

Hubs: Seat Toledo Tdi 'N' Reg (same one i nabbed the clutch actuator from) £30

Exhaust: Custom made from a length of 2 1/4" pipe, flexi & a 90 bend to hook up to the remus back box that was already on it £60

Throttle: It was running a fly-by-wire throttle so this was a bit of an issue, i looked into it and found nothing so went ahead removing the dashboard, heater box, steering column etc etc... replaced the throttle bar with a cable one from a scrapper cordoba, not an easy job and for this reason alone id say do it with a mk2 but hey ho live an learn (think the scrap yard were getting fed up of seeing me rape all their vag group cars lol) £5

Mates Rates: I gave my friend who just happens to be a wiring genius money for the weekend for fuel money and to say thanks, i wouldnt have been able to get it on the road anywhere near as quick without him £60

Anti roll bar: Seat Ibiza Gti Cupra 2.0 16v anti roll bar with links etc posted £50

Lubricants, filters & servicable parts: Engine oil (5L) Shell helix 10/40 semi synthetic £12 (i had a 20L drum) Gearbox oil 80/90 £20 (with 3 litres left) Oil filter £8 Spark Plugs £30

Maf sensor posted £85

Coil pack £40

I already had a set of alloys for it that were bought for my old car so that cant count as a cost and i cant think of much else so upto now it owes me just over £1200 which i dont think is too bad :)

There is probaly loads of stuff i have forgotten

I have had no reliability issues yet (200 miles) apart from the 2nd gear syncro (seen better days) and the common problem of 5th gear undoing itself which is now fixed :)

Anyone who needs advice on anything let me know and il get back to you asap hope this wasnt too boring to read there is alot of valuable info in there, the most being DONT DO IT ON A MK3 lol mk2 is cheaper and much easier.

Ben.

I think there's a white one for sale at the mo somewhere, it's been around a number of shows and has the 3.2 v6 lump, I'll need to try and find it again though to check if it's a Mk3 or Mk2.:)

if i had the money and the equipment, (pipe bender, welder, ramp, etc etc) id put an audi 5cyl 20vT in one of these..... with the quattro and the front seats almost as far back as is possible. (To fit the box and engine as far back as poss) now that would be a weapon with 550+ horses :D
