I'm forced to comment on this thread.....

A Milltek Non-Res Cat-Back or Res Cat-back is basically an Identical set-up to a standard exhaust, the ONLY differences are, stainless steel, and larger diameter / bore piping, the backbox itself (the part responsible for noise) is just as heavily baffled with sound deadening materials as a standard LC/LCR box

Hence why Milltek MARKET their systems for 'performance over SOUND' .... widely Milltek are known as the rich man's exhaust, or the mature boys exhaust.

I totally agree, I'm 30 now and I feel like I need to calm down a bit, and to be truthfully honest the does get on my nerves every now and then, hence why I've kept the Milltek back box, I might just put it back on.

my milltek resonated with scorpion decat is pretty loud and this comment does not represent my exhaust one bit.

Of course it's going to be louder coupled with a down-pipe and de-cat, and louder on a LCR with more power then a LC, i'm not saying you can't notice a difference, it's just then when someone buys an aftermarket exhaust, they do expect a certain level of "ooooh that sounds nice" ....... if ya catch my drift

Thought I should pitch in here, after a funny experience tonight. I have a new shape Milltek cat back, I think it's the resonated version since it's pretty quiet at low speed / low revs. It has a fantastic bassy character though, and gets a lot of compliments - a lot of petrolhead-inclined types ask if it has a V5 engine!

I have heard this "gentleman racer's exhaust" moniker before and had never appreciated it until tonight. I knew it was quiet at low revs, it has presence but not the "OH MY GOD, LOOK AT MY CORSA 1.2L!!!!!" effect that some exhausts have (thank god!). However, I decided to drive with rear windows down tonight instead of the front ones to see if the noise was any better, because it really does sound great, I'm a sad git I know!

Accelerating from 30 to 70mph, the noise was fantastic and above 50mph, pretty damn immense too. However, at 70mph in 6th gear, the noise was sonorous! It was a super-loud "WHUMPWHUMPWHUMP" that sounded not unlike a helicopter hovering about 2 foot overhead, or someone firing a .50cal machine gun in the back seat. Strangely, when the front windows were opened just a smidge, the wind noise seemed to cut the thumping drone immediately. Upon winding them back up, the noise of the exhaust could be heard again. Jesus that thing pumps some decibels under a decent bit of load, talk about a Jekyll and Hyde of the exhaust world! Has anyone else ever experienced this strange effect before?

A drive by from my car at about 60 or 70mph would probably sound amazing, but I had to roll the windows back up eventually, I could feel the pressure of the sound waves pulsing my ear drums to the point of actual pain and discomfort! Sure enough, pulling back into my estate it was as quiet as ever, the perfect gentleman's exhaust for certain!

i reckon thats to do with the air pressure in the car dude :) the way the wind is rushing in the cabbin if that makes sence. ive been a front seat passenger in a car with a guy in the back with the window all the way down and at speed this pulsing would start, opening the front window just a bit would make it stop. :)

I am wondering what will be better, Resonated or non Resonated i am planning to buy a full system with sports-cat from milltek.

I dont want it to be too loud with worries of cops getting on to me everytime i drive by :D

I have a milltek cupra R backbox now on my 2001 lc with 2 1/2" from turbo back and a 200 cell cat, no other silencers.

My car is as quiet as standard.
Res or no res i can't see making any difference at all.
