engine code on top of the cam belt cover will tell you exactly what engine you have and with that its easy to know what bhp it is

you may also find the same code on the logbook/registration document

to confirm any 1.4 you may have

mk3 shape

AKK (08/99-05/02) 60hp
AUA (06/00-05/02) 75hp (16v)
AUB (07/00-05/02) 100hp (16v)
AUD (06/00-05/02) 60hp

mk4 shape

AMF (05/02-04/04) 75hp (3cyl)
AUB (09/01-05/02) 100hp (16v)
BBY (01/02-04/04) 75hp (16v)
BBZ (04/02-04/04) 100hp (16v)
BKY (05/04- ) 75hp (16v auto)

should cover it :p

Sorry if this is a bit of a dumb question but what does the (16v auto) mean? I know the 16v is 16 valves but the auto? I'm having some trouble with my 1.4 Ibiza Sport (there is a lot of lag when i press on the accelerator pedal and i'm trying to fix it.
Thanks

Thanks, I thought that's what it meant. I was just checking up on the engine codes and on mine, it says BKY but mine is a manual, does this make a difference?

I'd reckon its fair to assume its 1.4 16v 75bhp manual.

The SEAT build crew are known to of made a couple of parts bin specials in the past that haven't followed the spec sheet

Seeing as there is a manual gear stick in the car, and as soon as you get more than 2 people in the car, it hardly moves, I'm gunna say that it probably is the manual version of the 1.4 16v Ibiza :D

Yeah, pretty big mistake but oh well, at least i know what it is.

You could be right, though I don't really know. Mine doesn't have rear disks!!

My 56 100bhp sport has rear discs. Also mine is happy to pull with its usual finess with 4 people in the car.

There you have it, the 100bhp has rear disks and the 75bhp doesn't!!

Not dragging up an ancient thread or anything, but out of interest I stumbled across this:

My engine code on my "mk4 1.4 16v Sport" '06 plate is BXW: and apparently I have 85hp... woohoo? XD
- oh and I have disks on the front, and drums on the rear...
