What Air filter are you running with what BHP. CUPRA

I am considering getting rid of my OEM air filter and putting in an after market one. I want to have one that will let me upgrade with a remap in the future and not starve the engine of air. I have seen lots of threads on lots of forums saying this one is better than the other.
Originally i was looking at a neuspeed pflow but some people are saying that they do not improve BHP and will starve the engine due to hot air, i was also at looking at putting a cold air box in place to help the pflow so it would make it a CAI. Then would an ITG be better for a latter remap, will the pflow starve a latter remap after stage 1 or will it supply enough air up to stage 3.

I was wondering how may people out there are running different air filters and what there BHP are with what remaps.

I dont want to spend lots of money on an air filter if the cheaper pflows with or without cold air box can provide enough air for the stage 2 and 3 remaps.

What are all the big boys running

I'm running stage 1 with just a panel filter, but like you I want am after Market system that doesn't cost the earth, was looking at the ITG but it's crazy money....

Lots of people, myself included running a p-flo with no problems at all. Mine is running standard map. Felt the difference immediately. Brad1 is now Stage2+ and is certainly not falling behind cars with same map but different filter. I cant warrant spending £400 on an air filter when i can get one for £220 with similar results!

Get your credit card out and go get an ITG! Iv got one.. It's a beast and I love every little sound a his it makes along the way! :)

Quality product and after buying and using it I think it's worth paying the money it cost. It isn't cheap but looks like a well built and thought about product !!

Stage 1 with Evoms here

I am in Bucharest for a wee while - will keep an eye out for it as I havent yet seen a MK2 Leon Cupra on my travels here.

Evoms for me although I have never been arsed to fit it to my new car.

Enjoy your stay.There are plenty Cupras over here.

Well....before evoms i had an intake from injen.Worked well with that too,but when i switched to evoms,the car pulled harder in upper revs. Plus....injen got really..i mean REALLY hot.

Not sure about Cupras but there are plenty Dacia Logans!

Evoms in my opinion is very good and air flow wise gives among the highest figures of all intakes going by a thread that was on here a while back.

Apart from the looks can the evoms or ITG really perform that much better than the pflow once the pflow is fitted into an cold air box. An extra £150 is a heel of alot more money to spend for branding and looks that are hidden under the bonnet.

I know people have said use the search function which i have been doing for the last couple of weeks on this forum and VW forum but i still have not come to any conclusion.

If somebody came on and said they ran a Pflow with stage 3 and got 340BHP and then changed it to an EVOM and got 360BHP then i would certainly say that the Plflow was the restriction but i have not seen anybody saying that they have swapped from one filter to another and seen an increase in BHP.

I am an engineer and like to have data to back up an argument, i would love somebody to post proof of a Evom/ITG out performing a Pflow on the rollers with the same set up.

Does the pflow restrict the full potential of car. If it does then there must be a point when the restriction comes in and the engine needs more air than a pflow can provide. What sort of BHP is that.

We know that stage 1 300BHP is obtainable with the OEM air filter.

What would be nice would be to see that the pflow is OK up to say a stage 2+ and then you would need something more substantial like the ITG or Evom for any more increase.

We do see evoms and ITG mentioned a lot and REVO recommend the ITG but is this just personal preference.

The more i read about this the less i know, at one stage i wanted the ITG now i am seriously considering a pflow as a very competitive cost affective solution.

According to the link the evoms are certainly outperforming the ITG by a margin when running stage 2+.

Not much info on a pflow.

I see a stage 3 running more airflow on stock than some stage 2+ ITG's so is the stock OEM filter restricting or not, although the Evoms are the clear winners.

To take that into account it seems that it is either Evoms or Stock as the stock can give at least 259g/s which is what the ITG gives.

As i said before the more I read the less i know.

If i knew the pflow could supply high 250's then i would go for that one just for the sound and knowing that it is a good as the ITG which doesnt seem much better than stock., the Evoms seems like the class leader but at a price £380. were as the stock filter seems as good as the ITG.

I guess we are only seeing peak figures so the ITG could be a much better curve.

You also have to consider the position of the MAF in the intake pipe for these figres. A dbilas for example sits off centre and as a result shows low figures as the mass of air (centre of the air feed) doesnt pass the sensor.

What you can't dispute however is that the fastest 2.0T cars mostly run EVOMS intake. That may be because the EVOMS was available sooner and more money spent on those cars, or it could be that those cars also had secondary air feeds etc etc.

As an example, mine ran to almost 116mph teminal speed on the 1/4 mile with an Evoms and S2+. Closest Leon Cupra I have seen to that was RobH at 114 (I think) and I am sure he runs an Evoms too.
