1.6 vs 2.0 FR

I'm averaging about 41mpg based on calculations from full-full fill-ups. However I do about 9 miles to and from work, so the economy will be bad. Recently did a run to Canterbury with 4 of us in the car and averaging about 75mph, returned 48mpg from the run which probably would have been higher with less people (weight) in the car.

Loving the torque the 2.0 gives, but if you use the power for fun the fuel gauge does drop fairly quickly. Like DellaFR, I stopped worrying about the mpg and enjoy the car.

I do around 650 miles a week in my FR and had no trouble so far. Average around 45mpg in town which is the bulk of my mileage, ( my car is used as a tuition car for learners!) yes you did read it right! I did a pass plus course last week and did 250+ miles that day and with smooth careful driving by my pupil, the FR was doing 69.7mpg. I too dont worry about the mpg as it is good, but the car is just great to drive and work in!

Ive seen an FR used as a tuition car in my area before, it was orange with its bumper painted like a bocanegra... i learnt in a 1 series and was petrified to scratch my teachers alloys! good car to learn in! u must be scared everytime u have a dodgy pupil that drives too close to curbs though

You have some lucky pupils, I'd have loved to learn to drive in something as nice as the FR, haha! I agree with reefa though, I would be scared of dodgy pupils doing it some damage!

The standard alloys are safe replaced with 16 inch golf gti turbo ones and they sit nicely back from the tyre! I also have a brake and clutch duals so never any problems.

Buy and FR TDi, enough said. If you even slightly care about performance then the 1.6 TDi just wont deliver the goods.

As I mentioned earlier, sites seem to be estimating the FRs to be worth £10k after the first year. At the moment though, I haven't seen any under £13k. Do you think there's a chance of dropping on one of these at a lower price, and will seat dealers haggle on their used cars much?

The 2.0 CR TDi unit has a fantastic reputation and is in high demand hence the residuals staying fairly high.
