I'm pretty sure that Nationwide were owned by Halfrauds.
I wouldn't take my car to either place to be honest...
They are now owned by Hallfords, but not at the point when I got the MOT done.
Only reason that I got the MOT done there 2 years ago, was because it needed a warranty job done and they were the only garage round here (one -ve point for living in the back of beyond) that was a Warranty Direct approved (or what ever they call them) garage. It would otherwise have been a case of get the job done and then claim the money back. A potentially long winded process, this way the garage bills the Warranty company direct. But as they say "what you win on the horses, you loose on the roundabout"... or something like that.
Though I do tend to agree with your comment in principle.
Usually use the local Ford garage in the village (at least I can walk back from there... just!). And for such a small garage / workshop, they always seem so busy. So get the impression that they don't need to inflate your bill with unnecessary work.
Compare Nationwide at 9:30 in the morning... my car was the only one sitting waiting for work. Local garage at 8:30 in the morning, struggle to find somewhere to park. Says it all as far as I'm concerned.
