Roof Vinyl Wrap - DIY

Right, I've decided to vinyl wrap my roof in gloss black... I'm going to DIY it, might as well give it a go, can always take it off if it doesn't work...

But, I know absolutely nothing about Vinyl.

I contacted a wrapping place today and got a quote to supply and fit, and just to supply.

Just to supply the vinyl was £90+VAT, and to supply and fit was 175+VAT

Now I knew that getting it done wouldn't be cheap, but that really takes the biscuit!

Now I've been looking to supply my own stuff, and have had a look on the bay at what is on offer. Lot's of places claim to be selling 3M vinyl, but the price differences are amazing... anything from £5 to £50 for what I need. Now i know that getting things cheap is different to getting a bargain... so I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of a company who sell a good quality vinyl at a reasonable price.

i've just measured up, and looks as though I'll need 1M by 1.4M, so if I can get a sheet that is 1.2 by 1.6, then I've got room for manouver.

Any help or suggestions welcome, as I'm confused to hell!

Ive done mine a few times now . (mk2 Ibiza) usual cost no more than a tenner a time .. best advise i can give.. measure twice cut once. and use LOTS of suds! to the point where you think it'll never stick ,and then some!

Brummys advice works - I'm not admitting that Brummy is right though ;)

Just to give you and idea of how much you are being ripped off I paid £90 for my vinyl roof to be wrapped in gloss black by a company who fitted aswell, don't just settle for one quote, have a look around and see what you can find, if all else fails search the bay and DIY I would suggest 3M or Avery vinyl, both are really good :)
When it comes to DIY use loads of suds as mentioned and use a creditcard with something soft and thin around it so you don't scratch the vinyl

As said they are haveing you pants down ! , I'm getting mine wrapped by the same company for 90 quid.. How far away from teeside are you?

As for DIY i've wrapped my mates s3's roof and done LOADS of vinyl wrap work you can get a big sheet about roof size for 7 quid thats good quality..

If i was you mesure your exact roof size and then ask for that exact size of your roof.. Thats how i did my mates and it came out top job , just dont have the time of day to do mine atm!
