Car is looking sweet mAte

Cheers mate! I'm looking forward to seeing your new rims on the car!

nice one mate. What setting you go for the rear ARB in the end?

It's on stiffest setting. Looking forward to giving it the beans soon to test it out! :D

To be honest the more I look at the car the more i feel it needs lowering slightly. It'll have to wait though as monies abit tight and I'm in need of a FMIC.

It's from the mk4 R32 DSG. The non-DSG cars have regular sized airboxes and snorkels like the LCR has, they put a larger one on the DSG cars to make up for the slight loss in performance that the DSG brings (or so I read somewhere).

If you look under the bonnet of a mk5 R32 the layout is completely different in terms of the airbox and feed etc. There's some more info including part numbers (near the bottom of the first page) here - http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2647069/page1

Not much of an update. Took advantage of the dry weather to give the car a wash. I was amazed at how much muck the car has managed to pick up saying as though its hardly been used over the past month!

Probably a poor atempt compared to what some can do!

The holder for Liquid Gauge is coming along nicely RDS! What are you using? Modelling wood? and filler? What finish do you plan to have?

The good thing about Liquid Gauge is that it has a recording line so even though it's out of your line of sight when driving, you'll still be able to see the monitored outcomes of, for example, torque, etc, when stationary. It looks like a brilliant bit of kit and I would love one.

I look forward to seeing the finished product buddy! Your car's paint work looks immaculate!

James :)

I took a trip to B&Q and picked up the thinest sheet of wood I could find, wood glue, primer and black paint (its flat black, hopefully it'll be a good match for the centre console) and already had some filler in the house. I then went to work to see what I could come up with. :) Looking forward to getting the gauge in the car!

I am quite pleased with how the paint work has come up although if you get closer to the car theres a few stone chips and scratches (i seem to find more with every wash )

I covered the ash tray pod with primer today:

I'm not entirely happy with the finish in places so will sand those areas down tomorrow, bit more filler sand it down and redo the primer.

Trial fitted it in the car to get an idea of how it looks:

not the best pics due to the light!

On a bad note it looks as though the seals gone on one of my headlights:

Upadate on the ash tray pod.

Firstly I sorted out the areas I wasnt pleased with:

P1020173.jpg

I then fitted the gauge and wasnt happy. It sat quite far back from the face and the joystick was difficult to get to due to its size. To sort this out I anded awy at the back of the pod to try and bring the gauge forward and also attempted to make the edges shallower on the front.

P1020180.jpg

It now currently sits like this:

Its made a massive difference and should look alot better once I've got the finish I'm after and its painted black.

All comments welcome!

On another note I've had more of a chance to drive the car since the ARB's were fitted. There seems to be none to very little body roll, it's really confidence inspiring, I seem to be squeezing the throttle more and more in the corners with a big smile on my face :D and its never let me down. I definatley recommend these to anyone reading who hasn't got them fitted, I'm still running the standard suspension and I'm amazed at the difference.:D

Top work mate, is a really good effort for the pod. Can't wait to see finished product!

On the ARBs, your making me jealous. I really want some for my R, but spent way too much at the moment.

I think when I do ARBs, I will do full poly bushkit allround, plus front and rear strut braces to transform it at once!

Cheers mate, the ARB's and Strut braces are definately worth it. I'm very jealous of yours and Coops at the minute! I'm desperate for a FMIC and 3" TIP now. Spent alot recently though and cars in for a service tomorrow! The saving starts here!!
