I just found the perfect thing to plug my EGR pipe with (the rack mounting push-to-lock "lug" from a Dell PowerEdge server, if anyone's interested). Taken it for a 20 minutes or so run, bit of dual carriageway, bit of town driving, and although there's no engine light (EDC15) VCDS tells me there's an EGR range fault code (I thought I'd copied it to the clipboard but I just tried to paste it and it's gone).

In two minds now whether to keep it like this and see if the light comes on, or just remove the lug and put it back to normal.

It will just eventually bring up the light and store the same fault but will have no detremental effects on the engine running at all. The earlieir none pd engines did not bring on the engine on at all.

Maybe not, if you've got a Cupra TDI rather than FR TDI then you already have the earlier car, and I'm pretty sure it's the older EDC15 ECU that allows you to run with the EGR hose plugged. I've tried this once before and couldn't even get the damn thing off the EGR valve to see what size object I needed to plug it, I might go and have another go later :)

ive the cupra tdi with the race pipe. just put a screw in the hose, thats what i did

In one of the previous posts we were discussing race pipes. Well, I've changed the Ibiza with Leon FR TDI and again made myself another race pipe. This time I had to use the EGR because of the way the boost hose connects to it.

I thought you might find it interesting. Nice and simple :D

well, you cut the end of the EGR connecting to the boost hose, the rest needs to be machined. I also used a gasket instead of the O-ring used with the EGR.

the anti shudder valve is out as well. the race pipe is made out of aluminum - it consists of 3 parts - the EGR flange, pipe and flange (intake manifold side). All three are welded. It almost looks like OEM :D

I left the EGR cooler for now. It will warm up the antifreeze faster :D Put a blanking plate and gasket at the EGR cooler exit. I will get rid of it eventually some day...
