You know you have an Mk2 Ibiza when all the emblems have been double-sided taped on, because the snappy parts broke off on a different owner, and both B-pillar interior parts have screws in them to secure them, because a previous owner didn't really care...

You know you have a Mk2 Ibiza when it takes 10 minutes before the fuel gage reaches what REALLY is left in your fuel tank....

And then when you go over a roundabout, your fuel gage goes from an eight of a tank left to a third of a tank and back again...

You know you got an Ibiza Mk2 when you really really want to do her up, put her back to showroom state, begin to scout websites for already painted parts, but when you get to ordering stuff, you come to the conclusion you don't really have any money left...

You know you got an Ibiza Mk2 when you're pointing out to a girlfriend you're tempted to just put the engine from a MK3 in it after it breaks, then you see a mk3 Ibiza and point at it "that's the MK3".., and you see the driver waving back...

Only seen one Mk2 guy that waved at me, drove along side me on the MW (also a red, pre-facelift one, bit faster though) ... Guess there are some other Ibiza lovers in the Netherlands after all!

Then you think What Mk3 Golf driver would ever wave at a Mk2 Golf driver....

@CEY_CLS: Maybe.. xD Maybe I'm just randomly thinking of stuff that happens to me, but probably to noone else...

You know you have a mk2 Ibiza when one of the rear wings seems to be coming off soon via a crack along the seem/panel gap on the rear...

First it was only the part under the rear bumper, now it's starting on the seem between the rear light and the bumper too! :( What did I do to it to make it fall apart! :( I've never been bad to her! :O... I mean 'it'... ok, fine.. Her!

Also..

You know you have a mk2 Ibiza when you know there's some kind of nasty grease coming out of the valve-cover/head gasket(? no idea... It's coming out of somewhere around that), but you still rather want to make the outside look better... like respraying an emblem, polishing worn paint, planning to buy new bumpers...

Bleh.. I kind of have zero experience with fixing anything engine-related... I know how an engine works by theory and all perfectly fine, but I have NO IDEA what it's like in an actual engine. There's a pic of the grease in my riders tread... If anyone knows what it is, tell me :(

@Cupra Kid: Those probably are expensive...? I'll check some day :) Probably after I found out why it's seemingly firing up later everytime I start it...

You know you have a Mk2 Ibiza when someone says 'Isn't that the car that's almost the same as a ~1995 Vauxhall Astra' and you're about to punch him on the nose...:censored:

Also... What add are you talking about? (Sorry for being Dutch :D We don't have an add like that here...)

You know you have a mk2 when...
...you dread the winter coming as 3 things always happen.
1. the door handle snaps off
2. the handbrake gets frozen on
3. the boot is stuck shut due to that bit you press is stuck "in"

one i have noticed on me and my mates ibiza.

you have the rear-demister on 24/7 because u forgot its on because the steering wheel blocks the wee light that show its turned on.

No problem for me on 2 and 3:

My handbrake is so Effed that a month ago I sometimes forgot to put the handbrake off... Drove one block and didn't notice anything untill I saw the light was on... Weirdly enough I can park on a hill without a problem :O...

And I never use the boot since I always stuff everything into the passenger foot compartment :D

Also, don't your hubcaps get really ugly because of the salt on the roads in the winter? I know it happens on some types of alloys but I noticed some hubcap with same marks...

You know you have an Mk2 Ibiza when everytime you search for parts for your car, everything comes off of a mk2/mk3 Golf or a Polo, untill you search for Mk2 Golf steel wheels+center caps and there's not even a single full wheel on ebay

(Thinking of coilies and putting some grey mk2 Golf steelies under it... I really like one particular center cap for them, and I don't want to paint my own steelies grey. Plus the Golf wheels are 13 inch, the ones I'm looking for at least... Maybe I'll just go look at a scarpyard or something)...

Found something out via an app on my dad's phone, something that gives details about your car via numberplate...
The official topspeed was 97.56mph, zero to 60mph in 15 seconds...

Which made me think....

You know you have a mk2 Ibiza when your car became faster in 15 years of age, instead of slower!!!!

I did a 0 to 60 test once with a mate(I didn't have my drivers license back then) and I counted 13 seconds! And I once did over 100 mph... So it is at least 3 mph faster than 15 years ago, AND acceleration has improved, and my mate wasn't even used to my almost completely worn clutch with 300 dead points....

Beat that, Golfs, Saxos, Polos, and Pugs!!

Also... It was 10,097pounds when new, prices now can vary from 216pounds to 2,515 pounds. Average price 1,006 pounds. I bought it for 303 pounds.. (God, i hate putting all these things to pounds and miles...)

EDIT: You know you have a mk2 Ibiza when you talk about your car in a tread like this, as if the car is haunted... but in a good way... For example:.... doors closing "on their own" instead of by gravity(car parked a little sideways), "deciding" not to start instead of having a bad battery, saying "please" everytime to make it start, instead of just fixing a problem... Christine type of stuff, isn't it?
