Just ordered my new FR - couple of n00b questions

As title, ordered a TDI in Track Grey with the 17" Albeas as our replacement Motability car, and I'm wondering what modifications, if any, are worthwhile?

I'm aware that these can be worth remapping, however I've also read about things like tuning boxes, and, being new to diesels and indeed all things VAG, I'm a bit confused. What's the best route to go if I'm after something which is reversible in three years time when I hand the car back? What sort of power would I be looking at, and what are the disadvantages?

Also, I'm contemplating lowering the car - what options do I have? Coilovers? If springs are available, what kinda price am I looking at, and what drop is suggested?

Cheers for answering the n00b questions you're all already probably fed-up of answering!

Welcome to SCN and Leon FR ownership. As an Astra J diesel elite owner and also a leon FR diesel owner I know you're going to love the Leon but you will miss the electronic parking brake..............

Vag-Com should be at the top of your wish list to enable all the little convenience tricks (needle sweep and coming home-leaving home lights etc), no tec 2 or dealers needed here.

You will also find this forum a lot more active and helpful than AON..............

Thanks for the warm welcome mate. I've heard of Vag-Com before, but not sure exactly what it is? I thought it was just for diagnostics, but I presume it can be used for other things?

Have you actually SEEN track grey? IMHO it's not the nicest shade.

Oh, and Motability take a VERY dim view on people modifying their cars (ie banned for life, benefit retained til any costs recovered) - be warned.

Vag-Com cables can be bought from ebay for a few quid and then download a copy of the software from various places or again buy it on a CDrom from ebay.

Have a read here clicky or visit the Vag-Com section of the forum for super geeky info.

Right, it's finally ready! Picking it up a week today, they did spring it on us a bit as we were told it wouldn't be ready until late May! Having to get the cash together quickly which is rather inconvenient, however very much looking forward to driving it for the first time!

Benefit swindlers? My son has Down's syndrome, it's more than a bit ignorant of you dishing out accusations simply because I wasn't fully clued-up on what Motability do and do not allow.

Im just saying i dont like the idea of it........ im certainly not ignorant, im merely expressing my distaste at benefit swindlers. From the outlook, motability+remap......looks swindly to me! Anywayz im not here to flame you! Sorry if it comes across that way!

I only enquired about remapping in my initial post as I wasn't aware of the stance Motability took against modifying, which was quickly revealed to me.
