It's also illegal to leave a car with the engine running while unattended, even if the doors are locked. There's no need for turbo timers on these cars anyway, as explained in the thread they have a secondary cooling system for the turbo which runs for a few minutes after the engine is switched off and the keys removed from the ignition. Drive your last mile or so keeping the revs down then leave the engine running for about 30 sec after parking up, the secondary cooling system will do the rest.

Only the LCR has this not the Cupra, the turbo timers interfere with the alarm system so you cant lock the car and leave the car running, its a VW group thing.

I don't think I have either? I just let the car wind down for half a moon or so and drive nice and slow for the last mile or so I just stay below 3000rpm ;)

Pat was yours one of the fancy pre-pre-facelifts with memory leather, auto dipping mirror etc - perhaps those models had them....?

Yes maybe its something they cut back when the spec reduced, although Phill seems to have the same spec.
Did your leon not have it either Dave?

They don't work , when you lock your car and walk away the turbo timer unlocks the car great if you want to have your car stolen lol , also the lcr have a water pump that pumps water round the turbo etc for 15 mins so no need for a turbo timer just don't rag your car when your near to you destination

Dude, just search for "timer" in the Mk1 forum, there are a ton of post, and as Dan said they don't work well with the LCR and seem to be more hassle than they are worth, just lay off the loud pedal for the last few miles of your journey.
