Assuming these are advisable only for BT Bill, where k0x turbos still act as the biggest bottleneck in flow terms?

they would be available for anyone wanting to try one..
not sure what gains on lower flows would be seen, not been tested as such, but MrsB lupo on new build will be getting one once its finished, so I will see then before/after on that one.
just need to find a cheap r32 throttle body now, as i'm skint currently.

Called CR and their hands are tied... I can make a claim through the courier but it would take a while and chances are they would play the 'inadequate packaging' card but they did offer to get the oxy on it and fettle it back... this would of course mean I would be unable to fit the turbo until it came back which as Welly has found out is likely to be a while as they are bonkers busy and under staffed... so we did it ourselves....

Bit more flatting to get it true and job done... didn't take long and one less thing to worry about now...

Been playing with ideas for the coolant pipes too so that is next on the list to do....

Hoping to get a couple of days on the car over the weekend as I have Monday off... hopefully gonna break the back of the work and have her more or less together by close of play Monday... thats the plan anyhoo...

They need to brush up on their responsibilities

Their contract is with the courier, not you

You bought something from them, and it is to them to make good

But I'm glad you've sorted it!

In fairness they did offer to sort the ding out for me but it would have been towards the end of next week before I got it back...

DHL managed to drop and damage Bill's race head twice!!

Busy weekend sorting a few little yet important jobs... but... coolant hoses are made and fitted..

...and of course most importantly the head is now on the car!!! Woo actual Hoo!!
20100926_IMAG0336.jpg

...fitted the new cam belt and refitted the engine mount before I left today...

Mostly a case of bolting stuff back on, I have a few things to buy tomorrow but I have the day off to get most of the car back together... still waiting for SFS to deliver the reducer though although they tell me I should get it Monday... hummm.... we will see....

Nearly there.... big thanks (yet again) to Bill for his help, as always much appreciated mate and you can have your ramp back very soon... promise :)

Lets hope I don't get held up by a bit of silicon!!!

Been fighting man flu all day but more or less did a 12 hour stint on her today...

Lots of fiddly stuff and mundane stuff to do but basically went from left to right across the engine bay putting stuff back, changed the oil filter and filled the engine with oil, filled the gearbox with oil as it was drained to remove the bevel box, plumbed in the coolant hoses, EGT probe, downpipe, exhaust, driveshaft, propshaft yadda yadda... all seems to take time to do but all must be done...

One of the things I did this time around was to simplfy the PCV system... I had already removed a lot of the hoses etc under the inlet mani but sorted it out properly this time as I had the access...

Replaced the lower PCV valve and t-piece with a bit of hose... I used silicon but rubber will do and silicon that is fluorosilicone lined would be better but it will do for now...
20100927_IMAG0337.jpg

...only pipes coming out of the bottom of the inlet mani now is the large one for the DV and the two smaller ones for the FPR and boost gauge...
20100927_IMAG0340.jpg

...I have had to use an incorrectly sized blue joiner while I wait (still!!) for the SFS one to turn up!!!... needed everything in place to sort the DV fitment and TIP fabrication out.

DV in place...
20100927_IMAG0347.jpg

...and pipework from the DV...
20100927_IMAG0345.jpg

...too the TIP...
20100927_IMAG0346.jpg

..this is now the only inlet going into the TIP, all thats entering the intake system now is air and fuel...

A few little jobs left to do starting with painting and fitting the TIP properly... engine bay looks more or less back together...
20100927_IMAG0343.jpg

...FMIC is looking neat and stealthy...
20100927_IMAG0349.jpg

...and of course I couldn't resist checking to see that I still have an OEM look... (despite the blue joiner!!!)
20100927_IMAG0351.jpg

Nearly finished, been tiring and I am royally knackered right now.... up at 6:30 in the morning :(

Hopefully get to start her up Tuesday night... and I must remember to bleed the clutch!

Again big thanks to Bill for welding my DV inlet to the TIP and of course for his continued support of my modifying habit (which in fairness he did start... sort of... ok, it's always been there!!!)

Thanks, the engine will be mapped up and run on the dyno with the airbox initially... I will try a cone filter to see what gains I get...

I have of course modded the OEM airbox with a 4" cold air feed but it will be filter surface area that will be the restriction if at all... be interesting to see what the difference may be..

There is possibility that I will need to up the size of my MAF tube too... Bill has an RS4 one to hand so can try that if the MAF sensor complains/maxs out

I had my car mapped on an s4 MAF tube which is the same as the Audi TT and S3 so shouldn't be a problem but do share that info, it would be interesting to see what difference that makes.

No its not.

S4 is 73mm

S3/TT is 69mm.

Tufty, are you running the spring that came with the Supersize DV? Was it a blue one?
