EGR Valve (excessive flow)

Hello! A newby after some help!

Right then, i purchased a 1.4 Ibiza sport a couple of months ago, to be honest its seen better days, but i was desperate for a car so i could get to work and it was cheap! so anyway shortly after buying it the engine managment light comes on.........so i think oh joy, thats all i need! when it came on, there seemed to be no drop in performance so i just assumed it would be a dodgy sensor and id get it sorted when i had time.

So a couple of months later ive been to get the error code read and it came out as PO402- EGR- (Eccessive flow). So i thought, well it must be stuck, so this afternoon ive had it off and to be fair it was pritty coke'd up so i gave it a quick squirt with brake cleaner a wipe round best i can get in and popped it back on. when putting it back on i noticed there seemed to be a vacuum pipe coming out.........but not attaching to anything??? my first question is should this be connected to something? secondly if not, ill probably try and fit another valve, but if i replace the valve am i correct in saying it will need to be calibrated?

Ive also read that this error code can be caused by the DPFE sensor, where abouts is this located in the engine bay?

Any help would be massivly appreciated!!

no vaccuum pipe on the 1.4. It's an electrical EGR. Simply unswitch the control on top of the EGR.

Post a pics of your engine with out the cover (pics of the to of the engine and wide enough) I can show you where it is!) As well, what is your engine code?

what happends if your leave it unplugged? i took my throttle body off any it was cakes in black shite from that probe that sticks up from my erg valve so im guesssing my whole intake manifold is like that which cant be good for performance! mjrally have you taken ur throttle body off n checked if its needing a good clean? mine was thick

not sure what happens if you take it off tbh! but it cant be much different to having a snipped wire!?! Thats a good call about the TB i think ill give it all a good clean out at the weekend.
