I have been driving a 14 year old 1.5d automatic on holiday for the last 10 days, a breeze no problems.

I come home looking forward to driving my car and the stuttering problem seems to have got worse, i was disappointed :(

I'm due a service in just over 1k so i'll bring it up then

Mine did exactly the same on 2.0 CR FR, then started losing water - turned out to be a knackered EGR cooler. EGR Cooler replaced under warranty and no more losing water and no more stuttering at low revs.

My car hasn't really done this to me but my wife drives it more now as she is off with the Baby - She said it's still doing it at times so i'm going to get it booked in.

There's a new Seat dealer just opened up in Newbury so i'm keen to see what they're like anyway.

Thanks

Hi.
My fr tdi done this a few times, i thought maybe the esp was doing it but wasnt convinced. I dont think my car was fully up to temp either when it done it.
Recently had the car remapped and serviced and it hasnt hiccuped not even when been nailing it, now is hard not to do it as the change in the car is amazing.

Well, Seat have had the car in and managed to replicate the fault on a test, but didn't get any problems showing up on Diagnostic although they believe it could be down to an Air leak?

They're having the car back for 2-3 days next week to investigate further so fingers crossed they replace bits until it's fixed.... not sure how they'll do that though - can't see them changing one part then going out for a drive each time, as the car doesn't always do it anyway.

Mine seems to be quite good compared to alot of yours

just does it in 2nd gear everytime when "feathering" the throttle and in 5th and 6th if i try to "boot it" if i ease the throttle on its fine

Doesnt do it in 2nd tho if i just boot it

That sounds very similar to mine - and even then it's not everytime so i was really pleased the Garage managed to at least find the same problem - so many times in the past garages have been quick to say they can't replicate the fault, especially if nothing comes up on the Diag.

I'll keep you all informed but the car is going in on Tuesday (24th) so fingers crossed they'll sort it.

How did you get on Nick?

I've just moved into a new estate with work still being done and have to cruise around at low revs in 1st or 2nd. The car is jumping and it's making me look like a cart!

My PD140 Sport used to do this all the time, I spoke to my dealer and they did an ECU update and that fixed it.
I have noticed my PD170 FR has done it a few times now too, but nowhere near the amount of time the 140 did it.
I've just had the FR Shark'ed so I'm waiting to see if it still happens now. If it does then I'm guessing it can't be anything to do with the ECU software.

My dealer took it for a road test apparently and couldn't find anything wrong with it.

I'm going to drop it off the night before next time and take them out in it myself (if they'll come!)

Exact same for me - it always seems to behave when going to the dealers!! :(

I don't know what could be causing this, but it's only done it randomly a few times so just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced it?

I don't want to take it to a dealer as i know if the computer doesn't show up a fault they'll not be interested in it....

What happens (happened) is around 2,500 rpm the car feels like it's got a flat spot and almost boosts then stops again then goes again.... It's like it's hesitating / Under-fuelling or something to me (Going back to my old Renault 5 days)!!

Anyone else experienced anything??

Car is a 2008 Leon FR TDi 170 by the way, 18k miles.

Nick, not sure where you are with this but the stutter at 2,500rpm seems to be exactly the problem I had, this was fixed by Richard Alexander SEAT in Hudderfield, it is detailed in this thread http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=120805. Nearly 3 years on and it has definitely fixed the problem, it has not stuttered since the fix. The only problem is when I spoke to Huddersfield SEAT recently and asked if the fix had been approved by SEAT UK they said no. I'm not sure why or even if it means I've got a botched job, but as I said mine has not stuttered in 3 years.

good luck with yours as I know how annoying mine was.

Murts you got any idea of the part number of the Gasket they fitted?

Ive read about fitting a Smaller Gasket from Skoda to the PD130 EGR's before.I Might aswell try this fix for now
