Well as you know my mot is done and that's him for another year. My original plan since my wheels are flaking was to just get them refurbed in a dark green colour (like the old vw sirocco) on the basis that people with ginger hair wear green. My boyfriend says that instead of wasting money getting them done a colour (the trend could pass and i'm left with green wheels) why not save up some more and get a set of proper "dub" type wheels. I really like the ats cups and the borbet a's but i'm so stuck in what to do. Please give your opinions as to wheels/colours or options.
Thanks

Borbet A's look cracking in my opinion. I've seen a few sets on Ebay recently.

Also as you say you can't go wrong with this style of wheel as you will never get bored of them!

Oh I do like the borbets-the really deep ones. I need to get spacers but my boyfriend is like they aren't safe, they crack as it takes the strain of the whole wheel-anyone had any problems?

Not a fan of ats cups
Do like borbet a's

But something I learnt, I always wanted a set of d90's, they suited my car perfect, but then I just lost my love for them

And I'm sure brummy felt the same when he got his borbet a's too
Its hard to explain

I think your hubby is right, green won't look that great IMO

I now need to decide for some winter wheels lol

Also what I have found is-and maybe I am just being thick-the borbet a's sometimes come in a set of 4 deep dish wheels (its the deeper ones I want) and sometimes come with 2 not so deep and 2 really deep and I find that confusing

Yeah I was thinking its more of a jap fanboy kinda thing having bright wheels. I do like ats cups! I don't know what d90's are so I will have to look at them too!

And spacers won't crack?
They put more strain on the bearing than the spacer cracking

I had 5mm spacers for like 6months, did nothing (and they weren't hubcentric)

That's what you want, hubcentric (so they don't cause vibrations)

Oh right yeah I have seen the hubcentric ones on ebay. God I hate ebay lol!
I've just had a look at the brock b5's and they are lovely, also looked at the d90's and I really don't like them.
I think the wheel arches are too big for ronal turbos, I saw one on pistonheads on hydraulics on ronals and it didn't look right at all

D90's are what I'm running tiggs

Boots: that strength is only radinox lips on split rims (stainless steel lips) yours arelike any other wheel, only the radinox are super strong (and super pricey lol)

Tiggs: borbet a's came in these widths
15x7, 15x9
16x7.5, 16x9
17x? (Cannot remember the other ones lol)

You want the 16x9, but then the offset is so low, you will need A LOT of arch work

Search "engbudd" on here, he has 16x7.5, and"seattoby" has 16x9 all round

Now i'm just confused. Is this why they sell 2 deep dish and 2 not so deep? do the not so deep ones go on the back? I don't want to go down the having to do the arches cus mines are rusty and the whole car will need a respray and that's just adding to costs!

Yeah, you can buy 16x7.5 all round
Or get "staggered" sets, (means 2 dfferent widths) so you can get 7.5J fronts and 9J rears

You will need a minimum of rolled arches, but flaring etc might be needed depending on the offset (I mean if you had the 9J wheels)

this might seem really blonde but-if the back wheelbase is narrower and you put the deeper wheels on the back-wouldn't it sit just right? Or is that just silly lol

That is true to an extent, as the wheels are 1.5" wider at the back, yet the offset of the borb's are different from the standard gti wheels, its all about offsets and width,

It is quite complicated lol

not very complicated :p. you want about et20 on the back then you won't need spacers. dub wheels on Seats arent very cool, it's a seat not a dub.

I beg to differ mike, mine looks awesome, and it technically is a dub, still a VAG

Like I said before though, wheels are all about opinion, like I don't like ATS Cups, but others will

It is complicated, if you get a 9J with ET20, it will most likely hit the suspension etc
A lot of things to consider

Definitely lots of things to consider as Suj has just said, and I'm not one who will give advice for fear of buggering it up for you lol.
Though I love Borbet A's and also these
But style&colour is totally up to personal taste.
And Seats can most definitely be DUBBED.
