Hi Dan,
Great build, one for all the build enthusiasts to get excited about and try and copy.
I have not read all the pages so apologies if you have already mentioned but just a couple of questions from me as I begin the downward spiral of modding;
1. All that power still going through the front wheels? Of the handling mods which one was the most benefical in terms of keeping the car going forward!! Was it the LSD? I had planned to put a WALK and set of ARBs and possible some engine mounts from the S3 on mine? Is a 4WD conversion in your thinking or is this just silly money and not financial sense?
2. On your earlier picture (under the bonnet) you still have the engine cover on. Did you 'customise' this to fit the Induction kit in? I have my ITG kit on order and from what I agther the engine cover goes in the bin when fitting mine into a
K1?
1. Well, its alot of power yes, ok on a dry day. Its not like all my driving is racing off the line all the time struggling for grip.. So its not a
problem really.
The LSD is no improvvment for a straight line generally. its designed to put the power down coming out of corners.
I really cant say what the best mod is for grip. really think the coilovers
help though, maybe someone else has a better idea here. I guess the coilovers
help keep the wheels more planted.
A AWD conversion is just silly money and maybe not even possible, so would never consider that, even though it would be good
Ive not gone for egine mounts yet, dont think I will bother.
A dogbone (pendulem) mount is supposed to
help with wheel hop grately.
The WALK and ARB's (maybe just rear?) are both essential mods, and not too dear.
2. In regards to the engine cover. I cut mine up to make it fit, to keep the standard look
Yep, you wont need the engine cover with the ITG, and it wont fit
You might want to keep it to put back to standard if going for warranty work?
