I thought I'd be so bored of my Ibiza by now without touching the engine but still love the car. Think I'll follow your advice Ash but just get the torque limited at 300 ftlb's. Gotta stop having a wheel fetish and get on the the other bits after the next set lol may have to do a 440 mile round trip though :( lol

They are proper animal! Really fooking nuts. The R32 is nothing like it, much more composed, much more grown up about it. You used to flat the Ibiza and it was like you were shoving a red hot poker up a bulls arse.

Oh and another thing - the Ibiza looks so much more mean with a massive FMIC and piping behind the bumper. :D

Im still waiting for one to pop up second hand haha not spending 500 beans on a fmic then another 450 on a turbo-back then 400 on the map :(

i bet it was mad like, like mine now with stage one if its remotely damp it spins up on boost. Then polybush rear engine mounts are good like, it doesnt hop any more when it does it, allot more grippy and picks up in gears better. Do they sound decent with a non resonated turbo-back?

When I had my hybrid derv Ibiza, I loved it. But tbh, unless you go for a LSD, they power is useless. It rains, it's useless. The wrong tyres, it's useless. It was mega fun chasing/overtaking Impreza's/Lancers and S2000's - but I dont know if I'd do it all again if I were to get another derv. You're always worried about something going to give, or the clutch gonna slip. At the end of the day, an Ibiza isn't meant for R32/S3 power. I think a remap and FMIC best suits these cars without pushing them over the top.

I totally disagree. I've had mine hybrided for 4.5 years
and 110k miles and I drove it like I stole it plenty and have never broken anything. Only thing that's ever been replaced out of necessity is tyres, brakes and a drop link.
I done the clutch and LSD this year coz I got fed up waiting on the clutch.
Im now looking to push things further again
There's never a time where the power you have is enough (this is from someone who had a 470bhp RX7 before the power of a diesel Ibiza :lol:)

Luckily the FMIC I got came up second hand. Think it was £300 for intercooler and pipework! Which was a bargain seeing as though it was in BRAND new condition.

I remember going out to overtake a car once, pulled out, put my foot up and it just lit the wheels up at 60 mph and i went wheel spinning past them. Seems funny now, but when a car is coming the other way and you're overtaking as quick as a 1.2 - not so much! :lol:

I also remember on the same bit of road, I put my foot down at 90mph (70 officer) in the wet and it lit the tyres up.

I reckon, if anything, the best noise from the diesel's is the hybrid turbo. The turbo whistle sounds totally different to a normally turbo.

Here's a couple of video's of mine with a decat, straight pipe and tiny little back box.

Sooty driving:

And me ballsing up my start bit time at Gti International last year:

Mine is the louder and smokier of the two obviously. As you can see though - soon passes a remapped PD100. It had been mapped to Cupra power, but I get level with him as I go past the camera and went on to win by nearly 2 seconds I think.

Oh and as you can hear in that video with Sooty driving, he goes into 2nd just as I start filming, then it just lights up the tyres and hits the limiter in 2nd. In the dry. :lol:

This sort of talk makes me dead tempted, as i need reliability as i do about 20k a year. What turbo did you go for? Bet its awesome with the lsd as-well! Cheers for your input

Sounds nice to be honest, wish i knew you both back then! Yeh i'd be granny driving half the time anyway and just having fun on the dual carriageways with blokes in rep mobiles haha

I drive like a granny too - I drove the Ibiza like a granny and I drive the R32 like a granny. Dont get me wrong, when the roads are empty and it's just me, I certainly do not hang around. But dont drive like a ****. :lol:

I didnt ever have problems with my Ibiza really. I was just paranoid that something WAS gonna happen. And putting up with a SMF was getting to me. You can get some vibration/juddering when driving at a constant/steady speed. For example, at 30mph the flywheel could really rattle and the vibrations would make the whole car lurch and jolt. Not BAD but enough to feel it happening and enough to pee you off. I must admit, I'm doing about 18k in the Golf a year it seems. Done 6k in 4 months.

I would say 2 things;

If you're going hybrid - get a LSD;
Try to keep the DMF. Cos for day to drive comfort driving, it does make a difference.

Check out my for sale thread in the sale section and all widths and offsets are explained :) rears are 8.5's and fronts 7.5's though. On weitec coilies with adjusters out atthe back and the fronts are about 10 threads off the bottom. I'd go weitecs as they are the non stainless version of the kw's and were only 400 when I got them which is miles cheaper than the kw's!

Awesome cheers mate! Didn't realise they were for sale! :) I will look up the coilies now and see what's best! Any issues with the fitment of the twists then? I've heard some people have needed some arch work done to fit them!?

As for the forum it was on, it was on Cleaned-UK and LloydF saw your car on EU Mania after I asked for a pick of a Beeza with Porkers! :) And yes the feedback was very good! One guy said he had to change his pants after! :cartman:
