I'm thinking of getting a new MY2011 FR TDI and was wondering what's the essential extras I should get to add value later on. As the conv pack is now included I was just going for the standard kit in Candy White. I'm not interested in the Aero kit but may consider side skirts and spoiler, depends how much they are. Is the tech pack worthwhile as I'm not bothered about the media kit included.

bluetooth/xenons/reverse sensors & fronts even?/ expensive but all worth while to keep the price up 
I agree Bluetooth is a must have. Also personally, factory bi-xenons (wish I'd have had them with my current FR). I wanted the sat-nav with DAB radio, so plumped for the tech pack... I figured if I was having the bi-xenons and media system, I might as well get parking sensors front and rear while I'm at it!
Rear parking sensors come as part of the conv pack on the FL FR... or at least they did with mine.
Went for the media pack as well but because i didnt go for the front parking sensors it doesnt throw up the map of the car with the radars on...

Yeah, rear parking sensors are now standard for MY2011, in fact the whole conv pack is now standard kit. As I said I'm not that bothered about the media pack, I've heard the satnav is pants anyway, but I may get the Xenons rather than the full tech pack. Is any of the body kits worth it, also what sort of "running lights" come with the Xenons?

I would hold off buying the cable until someone has confirmed that they have managed to change something in VCDS for the FL Leons
All I can do at the moment is view and scan for faults but don't dare change anything as there are no labels for the new ECU's yet and I can't get 908 to work with the £25.00 cable yet.
I scoffed at the winter pack, but when my jets freezed up every morning last winter, I wished I had spent the money!
The DRLs are just 382 P21W tungsten bulbs in the same place as the full beam H1s are in non-bi-xenon models. From the brochure, it looks like there might be a slightly different reflector/diffuser but it's similar to the normal high beam one.
The bulbs look quite yellow-ish (like the Golf mk6 ones) unfortunately. You can buy some MTEC chrome-effect bulbs which output a whiter light than the standard ones. I don't think anyone has found a LED replacement yet though. (Like with sidelights, you'll get a bulb-out warning on the dash if you install LED replacements for the 382 bulbs without suitable loading resistors or whatever...)
I'm still convinced that they would help much. I found on the coldest days, any screenwash used to clean the screen would quickly refreeze so it wouldn't have helped to be able to use the washer nozzles.
^^^^^^^ The heated seats alone make it worth the money IMO. Also the headlight washers look cool when they pop up and spray.
The heated seats certainly seem more useful than heated washers... but tbh my other half would appreciate them more than I would (I'm better insulated lol).

I'm still convinced that they would help much. I found on the coldest days, any screenwash used to clean the screen would quickly refreeze so it wouldn't have helped to be able to use the washer nozzles.

If it's significantly below freezing, I would worry that the screenwash in the pipes would be frozen and not just the nozzles... still leading to potential leaks if the pressure disconnects the pipe, or damage to the pump.
For that reason, if it's terribly cold, I don't even try to use the screen washer.

I like the look of the body kit, considering it for MY2010 FR that I have. Not sure how much for buying, fitting and painting?
