DIY Boost leak tester guide

It doesn't matter what you choose as long as it can build up pressure to approxably 1 bar (don't now how many PSI that is)
And have a gauge to read the value.

I connected my tester at the first intercooler tube from the turbo.

Everything but the pipe was ordered online. I struggled to get the pipe myself. So what I did, I went to my local pluming center, they sorced a 55mm joiner(outter diameter 60mm) and an end cap, which they kindly stuck of properly. Cost me £5.50
the total cost was around £10.
Just to add I bought a low pressure gauge, goes upto 2 bar which is perfect for us. Same store as the link rsmith used but different gauge.

well at long last i managed to get round to using the boost leak tester on my car today. im so glad i did, i found two big leaks. they must have been there since i bought the car as i havnt notice any loss of performance.
anyway here is a pic of the pipes that are split(mine are not forge just standard) these are located under the inlet manifold.

on the tester i couldnt get above 0.4 bar unless i covered up these splits. so can anyone tell me, should i get better performance once i have changed these hoses?
also were can i buy them, the forge ones seem very steep.

Glad it worked for you mate, i had splits in these pipes to and the boost leak tester found them for me.

The OEM ones are not that much cheaper than the upgrated forge or Awesome GTI ones and you have to buy them in a set from SEAT not just the individual ones, i upgraded mine as the OEM ones would inevitably fail again.

Sambryant. Maybe you should consider fitting oil catch tank to get rid of those pipes under inlet manifold? :)

Where are you from ? ^^

EDIT: Im 100% sure you will notice performance gain as I did with mine :p

No gain, but there is performance lose to be had, they can cause boost lose depending on where the split is, poor idle and in my case oil was being lost from one of them.

There only £23 from awesome, you should really replace them and be done with it.
