I only have rear parking sensors in my brand new FR & the button near the hand brake flashes when i go to reverse & gives a long beep then nothing happens. I've had a mate reverse up to a wall while I watch & it got to inches away & nothing ever happenes beep/warning wise :(

Any suggestions or is it straight back to the dealer? :argue:

That sounds a bit odd. The button near the handbrake is for front sensors, to allow you to turn them off. The reverse ones should beep when selecting reverse and then the beeps get faster the nearer the object is to the rear, until you get a continuouse tone. You can test by putting on the ignition, select reverse then get out of the car and walk up to the rear and you should hear the tone.

Sounds a bit dodgy, I have the front and rear and they bleep once when reverse is selected and then only start bleeping again when I near an object. The button near the handbrake kills all of the parking sensors on mine, although I've only pressed it when stationary, being parked the engine running and the sensors going is maddening :p

Steve maybe you're the best guy to ask i dont know (if you have rear p sensors or not) as you have the same config of car as myself (ie front kit bumper but standard back bumper)

I've just been told by Arnold Clark that they cant fix my rear parking sensors as they run off the same control box as the front ie you need to have the standard front and back bumpers fitted to have working rear parking sensors..

Does anyone know if this indeed is the case? I'm a bit annoyed finding this out now as they were meant to be included as part of my negotiated price i paid for the car so it's a bit off just saying that my car's ready to be picked up but they're still not working etc..[:@]

Hi, yes I have the rear parking sensors with standard rear bumper and aero kit front bumper.
With your car having the button by the handbrake it should have the front sensors has well.

When you ordered did you just order it with the convenience pack ?

What it sounds like the car came with front sensors and you had the front aero bumper fitted at delivery. If you did order the front and rear sensors and front bumper together you should have been told the front sensors will not fit with the aero bumper (why I don know), if you only ordered it with the rear (convenience pack) then you car was delivered with the wrong spec.

So what AC are saying is correct but depending on what you ordered you should have been informed at the time of order.

The control box and wiring I believe is different if you only have the rear sensors. If you have both the control box works with the Media system to display a graphic has well.

I'm confused :headhurt: I ordered the car (with everything convenience, tech pack winter pack the lot) & was then told (after delivery from the factory when they went to fit the front bumper) that they could only fit the rear parking sensors as i had the aero kit on the front. Now they are saying i cant have either but i feel as though i've paid for both initially. I negotiated getting alluminium door trims in place of the front sensors but now i'm faced with not having the back sensors either and it makes an annoying malfuction long beep when i go to reverse..
Also how can I have front sensors and you cant on your Cupra Aero front bumper?

Anyone (or Steve!) any idea where i stand or what i should say to them about this?

I'm pretty sure you only get the parking display with the full parking sensor package. That's how it is on my Altea. It's starting to sound like they started to fit the full package parking sensor unit, come to fit a bumper on it, realised it wasn't the standard bumper, then just left the wrong unit in the car. Then nobody bothered to check it after. :(

If it was me. I'd take the car back, tell them what you had ordered, point out the specific things on the Tech pack (ie: Front and rear parking aids). Tell them that they should have told you that front parking sensors were not available on the bumper you'd ordered, and you want them retro fitted, so the car is the car you paid for.

This sound very likely to me as a possible explanation for what they've done. Thanks Watto.
I'll wait & see what HotHatchSteve thinks once again then take it up with them..

thank god i've got a courtesy car in the meantime!

cheers again

Are the headlamp washer jets in the FL Aero bumper integrated now ? (ie: Flush with the bumper ) I never liked the "sitting on top of the bumper" look of the pre-FL on my 08. Looks like less of an afterthough on my 10.

What seems to have happened is, the sales person should have advised you that the front aero bumper does not allow the fitments of the front sensors thats why you were allowed front sensors and I was not. There are 2 FL front aero bumpers, one for cars with washer jets and one for cars with out.

When ordered from the factory, the car would be delivered with standard bumpers and front and rear parking sensors, the dealer would then have to have the front bumper, skirts etc, fitted because they can not spec these has part of a factory order. At the point of fitment they should have contacted you to say you can not have the sensors before removing the front bumper. Thats at least 2 departments of the dealer that should have pointed this out to you.

It seems like you have 3 choices,
Try rejecting the car.
Have no sensors and compensation.
Have standard bumpers back on (may skirts removed) plus refund and compensation.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Steve, & how is is it that you managed to get working rear parking sensors when you've got front aero kit on? That's all I'm after. It was pointed out to me that i couldnt get them on the front aero kit bumper but as you say you can have them on the standard back bumper right? This is really what I'm trying to find out. A solution to have the same set up as yourself..

From reading around, I gather that the control box / electronics are different for "just rear" or "both front and rear" parking sensors...

My guess would be that your rears aren't working because you have a "both front and rear" control box and it's expecting both sets of sensors to be connected. Because they replaced the normal bumper (inc sensors I presume) with an aero one (with no sensors), the control box is not behaving - just my theory. Likewise, Steve's rear sensors presumably work because he has the "just rear" control box and has rear sensors properly connected to it.

The whole sorry mess is 100% the dealer's fault for allowing you to choose an impossible spec when you ordered. They either need to replace the parking sensor system for a rear-sensors-only setup *that works* or replace your front bumper with a normal one and working sensors at both ends, at your choice.
Either way, I think you're well within your rights to demand compensation for the cockup and inconvenience. At the very least, I would expect them to put it right at their cost and offer some freebies (accessories, servicing, whatever)...

Good luck! My fingers and toes are crossed that my factory ordered Ecomotive will arrive in a few weeks with all the bits I ordered in full working order.
